We were fishing for speckled trout out of Grand Isle in June with our three young children. We hooked a fish and it was our youngest one’s turn. Thomas Schonacher, 3, began to reel in the fish. As he was reeling in, we saw a big speckled trout at the surface of the water. We grabbed a net and he was able to reel it in all by himself. Once in the boat, we realized how big it was. The speckled trout was 5 pounds and 25.5 inches.
