This 234-pound swordfish was caught by the Next Level Fishing Team out of Venice on March 20, 2024 on a hand crank reel.
“Capt. Cole Trosclair and Ivy Trosclair put Cole Canatella, Nick Simon, Everett Hymel, and Ricky Jessup on a 234-pound swordfish on the first drop. They were 20 miles from South Pass fishing in 1,600 feet of water. They left Wednesday, March 20, 2024, trying to catch tuna. They couldn’t make bait for tuna and decided to just target swordfish. On the first drop, Cole Troslair hooked the fish and did most of the fighting on a Talica 50w while the others jumped in when help was needed. After 2 hours and 45 minutes, they finally landed the fish. They headed back to the marina after a long day of fishing and trying to make bait for tuna with a 234-pound swordfish.”
