On my latest trip, I steered the Avid to a flat adjacent to a small cove that featured subsurface grass, pretty water and jumping mullet, which are the three ingredients I ALWAYS look for when I want to catch big speckled trout this time of year.
I started the morning throwing a Matrix Mullet, a lure that delivered a monster trout for me already this month, but when that failed to produce a fish, I made a cast with another lure I love this time of year, and it immediately drew a strike from a really nice fish. It was the beginning of a FANTASTIC trip!
