Victim’s body recovered near rope swing in Rapides Parish, LDWF says

An 18-year-old PIneville man died Monday in the Indian Creek Reservoir after jumping from a boat into the water near a rope swing, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Orlando Banks’ body was found in about 12 feet of water near a bank of the reservoir around 5:30 p.m., the release states.

According to witnesses, Banks was one of four people in a boat that approached the rope swing around 2:30 that afternoon. One of occupants jumped into the water and swam to shore near the swing, according to the release.

Then Banks jumped into the water, but struggled to stay afloat and went under. The occupants in the boat and the person on the bank unsuccessfully attempted to find him and get him out of the water, the release states.
