Tucker leads first day of St. Johns River Elite Series stop

Bassmaster Elite Series pros Greg Hackney and Cliff Crochet are starting the 2012 season strong, with each of the Louisiana pros moving into the second day of the circuit’s first stop in the top five.

Hackney weighed in the largest bass during the first day of the St. Johns River stop when he brought a 10-pound, 9-ounce lunker to the scales to push his five-fish total to 23-14 — a mere 2 ounces behind leader J. Todd Tucker.

Crochet also was within striking distance, less than 4 pounds back with 21-5. He sits in fifth going into the second day of the tournament.[…]

Chris Lane jumps to top of Classic leaderboard

Florida’s Chris Lane abandoned the area he fished on the first day of the 2012 Bassmaster Classic, locked down one pool and proceeded to put together a 19-pound, 4-ounce stringer that boosted him into the top spot going into the final day of championship competition.

“Today was plan B, and tomorrow is plan C,” Lane said. “I’m going to try to take plan A and Plan B, and come up with plan C.”[…]
