The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will host a deer hunting beginner’s class Oct. 10 in Monroe from 9 a.m.-noon titled Bucks and Does: Deer Hunting 101. The course will be held at the LDWF Monroe Office, located at 368 Century Link Drive in Monroe.
The class will cover the basics of safe ethical deer hunting. Topics include hunting regulations, equipment selection, deer behavior, scouting and shot placement. Participants will also learn about game recovery and basic field dressing. By the end of the course, students will have the knowledge and confidence to begin hunting safely and responsibly.
The introductory course aims to break down the barriers to entry for modern hunters by focusing heavily on safety, conservation, and ethical practices. Led by experienced LDWF staff, the curriculum bridges the gap between raw interest and field readiness.
