Colt New Service with British Proof Marks   made in 1914 so it went to war against the Kaiser.  I got this pistol in a trade and am fascinated with it.  I did shoot it with 45 cowboy loads, which is the shorter case than a 45 Colt.  I then tried 45 Colt and it chambered.  Someone had reamed and polished the cylinder to take the longer 45 Colt round.  This is not unusual.  The bore of these guns is .454. the same as the Colt 45 single action so the 45 Colt rounds are pretty accurate, at least the six that I shot were.  I am not keeping it as I collect Winchesters and Colt Single Actions.  Barrel address and other markings are still there so I do not think this gun has been refinished.  Lock Up is very tight!
