Jack Davis got his first deer

Jack Davis, his younger brother, Wyatt Davis, and his grandfather, Keith Davis, pose with Jack’s first deer. It was taken in Area 2, Caddo Parish, on Dec. 1.

Jack Davis, 6, has been after his first deer since he started hunting with his grandfather, Keith Davis. When the rut in Area 2, Caddo Parish, started to kick up, he didn’t miss a minute of hunting light. Jack hunted with his dad, Blaine Davis, from 1 hour before daylight till dark for 11 straight days without ever getting out of the stand. On Dec. 1, 2025, they put out some fresh doe urine about 2 hours before dark and got back in the stand to wrap up day No. 12. Thirty minutes before dark, Jack turned over his long bleat can two times and a doe was immediately pushed out and then out stepped a 7-point. He was right at 120 yards and he wouldn’t stop moving behind the doe. Jack followed him and squeezed the trigger and he hit the ground. The best part about this experience for Blaine wasn’t the deer, it was seeing the passion of hunting come alive in his son, just as his dad watched it come alive in him.
