Shortly before the 2014 Coastal Conservation Association STAR tournament got cranked up in May, Bassmaster Elite Series pro and Sportsman TV host Greg Hackney headed to Lafitte to fish with tournament director Rad Trascher to get the details on the 101-day event.

Hackney and Trascher were hosted by Doc's Fishing Charters and Capt. Maurice d’Aquin, the president of CCA’s Westbank chapter.

After some topwater speckled trout action, Hackney couldn’t resist going after some big redfish with Strike King’s Pure Poison vibrating jig.

Sight-fishing was great, and a couple of redfish were tagged for the tournament.

So far, only one tagged redfish has been caught and it was by an unregistered angler, so the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is still up for grabs.

Sportsman TV airs on CST every Thursday night at 6:30, as well as Saturday mornings at 8:30 and Sunday mornings at 9.
