On Sept. 5, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission approved a Notice of Intent to modify the minimum recreational size limits for mako sharks.
This sex-specific change requires male shortfin makos measure at least 71 inches fork length and females measure at least 83 inches fork length. The proposed changes provide consistency with current federal regulations.
Interested persons may submit written comments relative to the proposed rule to Jason Adriance, 2045 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70122, or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to November 7, 2019.
