The most recent flounder stock assessment has indicated a decline in flounder recruitment, which has resulted in the stock size falling below healthy levels. The commission was presented with management options that are expected to return flounder stocks to a sustainable level.
The commission requested the department to explore several other management options and report back to the commission at a later meeting. No action was taken on flounder management at this meeting.
