Hey guys just wanted to get a little feedback. 9 times out of 10 when someone comments on Texas deer hunting, they talk about $10,000 leases and assume a high fence starts when you cross the sabine.
I grew up in Texas, like most of you i couldn't sit still in class because i was thinking about hunting. Or just sitting at the camp with my dad and uncles around a fire telling lies and drinking beer. Well the oilfield moved me here. Been fortunate enough to be invited to some leases here. And except for a different state, everything is the same. Families and friends enjoying each others company.
Sure there are several high fenced ranches in Texas, several being 10's of thousands of acres big that are game fenced. But assuming thats how we all hunt is like assuming every cajun owns one of those huge camps in cocodrie.
We've been on a 1200 acre lease for 15 years now. $500 not $5000, low fence to no fence. Kill some big ones and some small ones. Went back last week for my the land owners birthday and met a game warden. Told him about the opinion over here of how we hunt. He said less than 1/10 of 1% of land in Texas is high fenced. Sure we have alot of deer, but is that bad? I don't think it makes us any less manly or less of a hunter. Hell i hardly saltwater fished, now over here in the fishing capitol you can't keep me off the water. This post has no point and is one big ramble, but i was bored. GO TIGERS!!!
