Hey guys just wanted to get a little feedback. 9 times out of 10 when someone comments on Texas deer hunting, they talk about $10,000 leases and assume a high fence starts when you cross the sabine.
I grew up in Texas, like most of you i couldn't sit still in class because i was thinking about hunting. Or just sitting at the camp with my dad and uncles around a fire telling lies and drinking beer. Well the oilfield moved me here. Been fortunate enough to be invited to some leases here. And except for a different state, everything is the same. Families and friends enjoying each others company.
Sure there are several high fenced ranches in Texas, several being 10's of thousands of acres big that are game fenced. But assuming thats how we all hunt is like assuming every cajun owns one of those huge camps in cocodrie.
We've been on a 1200 acre lease for 15 years now. $500 not $5000, low fence to no fence. Kill some big ones and some small ones. Went back last week for my the land owners birthday and met a game warden. Told him about the opinion over here of how we hunt. He said less than 1/10 of 1% of land in Texas is high fenced. Sure we have alot of deer, but is that bad? I don't think it makes us any less manly or less of a hunter. Hell i hardly saltwater fished, now over here in the fishing capitol you can't keep me off the water. This post has no point and is one big ramble, but i was bored. GO TIGERS!!!

today is my last day offshore. for 2 weeks i've set around with nothing to do but get involved with this little saop opera. we all know you guys are all but done in the next few years. i'm done arguing.
i go home tommorrow and will spend 2 weeks in the woods or fishing with my boy. i'll spend that two weeks teaching him right from wrong, some respect to other people and so on. luckily by the time he's my age dog hunting will have been long gone. there will still be people like you that are too dumb to see all you had to do is compromise, and you could do what you wanted on your own land. instead of making people do what you want on their land. don't care where you go, that won't fly. why do you think la. is one of the last states that allows dog hunting. granted la. usually always ranks at the bottom no matter what is being ranked. but even they eventually catch up. don't buy anymore dogs crook you won't be needing them much longer.

HUNTED CLOSE TO THAT AREA MYSELF BEFORE! ANIMALS EVERYWHERE. BE CAREFUL POSTING A KILL ON HERE FROM TEXAS. SOME WILL ASSUME IT WAS KILLED ON A 1 ACRE GAMEPROOFED PEN. FUNNY HOW SOME PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND MANAGEMENT!

You should have a 2nd grader spell check for you next time.

Story time-Dog hunters cry and moan because still hunters wouldn't leave them alone. Fed up with your dog on our land, we took the law in our own hand. We tried to reach a compromise, but to our suprise, you were to dumb to realize. All you had to do was keep your dog off our land, but with that dog you had no command. So now as the years come to pass, your hunting deer while sitting on your ass. Now you can only still hunt and can't bring your mutt, so you make them earn their keep by banging that butt!

Guager can you re-explain your compromises that dog hunters are willing to make. I don't mean the tagged dog situation. I mean the compromise to keep your dog off of my land.
How is it not a tresspassing issue? I think you guys stand a better chance of keeping your right to dog hunt, if for 1 minute you would listen to most still hunters saying they don't care what you do just do it on your land and not on theirs.

I was in Houston last week and saw that nascar bought around 4000 acres in Cleveland, about 35 miles north of Houston. They said in the paper only one small race a year(non nextel cup). But i don't see that lasting long with the money they are spending. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

While offshore i heard a Cabelas was going in at the Scott/Cankton exit by Lafayette. Saw in the Scott community paper a high-end sporting goods store was coming but they did not name it. Any inside scoop?

This post is false. This guy didn't catch this fish. Huntress swam to the middle of the Miss. with an 30 foot alligator under one arm. While she was killing a 25 foot fire-breathing dragon. On the way back in she was bored so she reached down and pulled out this little catfish for a snack.

ed i'm with you, i love coming to this forum to bicker. it reminds me of elementary school. however, i think we all can see the gloom that this will bring for all anglers. man i've got a 4 1/2 yr. old and another on the way. i just hope there is something left over for them one day.

You call still hunting unsportsman? I've been waiting on someone to bash dog hunters for their lack of sportsmanship since this post came up. We jump people that hunt a 5000 acre game-proofed ranch for being unsportsman like, but we don't think turning a pack of dogs loose to chase deer towards you as unsportsman like? I really don't see the logic.
I guess this is the 200th post, and the only resolution i've seen from the dog hunters is that still hunters have to live with the tresspassing and shut up. Well i can live with that if you can live with dead dogs.
I felt so threatend when i saw that pack of crazy dogs coming at me officer i had to start shooting in self defense. I was afraid for my life and my childs life. Sorry i only got three, the other one got away!

We do have the balls to shoot some dogs. If it's a problem, i'll tell them my name is widowmaker, and i am the greatest hunter the world has ever seen, and i thought it was a fawn. They are extremely hard to hunt, since they learned so much during there 6 months of living. They do have the most tender meat, right?
