2017/2018 Duck season first split recap.

December 06, 2017 at 12:04pm

If you need dead ducks to enjoy a video this one is not for you. If you like the foolishness that happens in the blind you should watch.

November 28, 2017 at 8:50am

Coastal zone opening day video, duck numbers were way down but had more dos gris than i've seen in a long time.

November 22, 2017 at 12:38pm

Time to rebuild the big blind.

November 15, 2017 at 12:07pm

Put up the new duck blind and had some in lookers.... Caught redfish out of the blind.

November 13, 2017 at 7:18am

Was coming into Lake DeCade a couple of days ago and came across a pelican hanging from the beacon.

November 01, 2017 at 12:45pm

Just like the title says, looking for a way to kill roseaus.
Thanks

October 18, 2017 at 11:48am

Took my 7 year old on a little redfish trip to Lake Mechant.

September 25, 2017 at 12:00pm

August 24, 2017 at 8:54am

Looking for someone who makes custom crab ring nets in the Lafourche/Terrebonne area. Thanks

August 17, 2017 at 10:32am

Anybody know of a place that replaces the fabric on a Bimini top in the Lafourche/Terrebonne area? I'm getting quotes that are more expensive than a new one.

Thanks

Took the kids for a nice, quiet redfish trip until.... We were surrounded by gators who were looking for us for food. They showed no signs of fear of humans. The bigger one tried to eat a redfish we were reeling in. The smaller one literally came right up to the boat!!

July 26, 2017 at 8:37am

Tried to fix a call I busted up. Worked the second time.

July 19, 2017 at 9:58am

Looking for a topwater redfish bite, ended up with a couple of nice specks and a shark at the boat!

July 17, 2017 at 10:37am

Made an early morning trip this week looking for some bass on a frog. Had some good fish hit real early, as the sun rose the fish got smaller and more difficult to find. Or I got too hot to keep at it....

July 07, 2017 at 7:40pm

Put together something a little different to do with frog legs.

I wish there was this much passion for coastal erosion. The question has many answers but the degradation of our habitat is a much larger % of the answer than we realize.

Thanks for the response Larry, I saw your info on another site and have ordered the ingredients. How long does it take to see the affects? Do you think burning it would help?

My favorite call is the old DC brown sugar. Real soft, quiet quacks and the grey ducks do well with it. I busted a hole in it at the end of the season last year, hope my repair job holds up because i cant find another one. I also picked up a Dirty Rice by Haydel's a couple of years ago that I really like.

Yeah, I am real lucky. All my kids would rather be at the camp than anywhere else.

A comment titled: Re: Water Foul FEED TAG Your thoughts?? in response to a report titled: Waterfowl FEED TAG Your thoughts??

I agree with the premise of what you're saying. I have 3 kids, one is a shooter, the other two are too young but still make 75% of the hunts I go on. I've been hunting for a long time down here and I see duck hunting becoming a high $ sport as it is. I have a couple of marsh land leases and there are times where we don't have any birds. I just see the 'feed tag' as another way to push us regular guys out. Maybe that's not the right wording, but if I can only spend $500 a year on milo and the club a couple miles away can spend $5000 I would be in worse shape. The high $ clubs already have some advantages but if they could put their resources into feeding areas I think it could be devastating to the sport. There are leases surrounding virtually every WMA in the state, filling them with feed would truly hurt 'Joe Duckhunter.' I realize I may be wrong and until you implement the program you won't know all of the effects, but this is my initial reaction.

I've heard WLF is actually for this. I personally would be against it. I believe it would lead to ducks being concentrated where the most $ are. I feel like the already high cost of duck hunting would go up exponentially just to be competitive.

Gadwall, I am in Dularge. A few years ago I had a lease off of Lake Mechant where they did a restoration project. the boat traffic is not necessarily a bad thing. The final results were the same as yours, filled in ponds and those that were left had no water. I have a buddy that got a restoration project on his as we speak, we'll see how that goes. Good luck to you.

I hear ya, if you ever head this way give me a shout. Trout will be moving back in the next 6 weeks or so. Pretty good fishing in our area in the fall.

Getting there now is very different from getting there in duck season. Especially if you're on the coast. Burlap will be a good base layer but you will need natural cover to be concealed.

A comment titled: Re: Duck Hunting 2017-2018 in response to a report titled: Duck Hunting 2017-2018

The real issue is can you get in and out of where you are going to hunt. Any boat you hunt out of needs to be concealed. Yours may just need a little bit more.
