Bass fishing is on right now in the marsh! We drifted through the ponds throwing a worm to the holes in the grass, once we figured out what they wanted we caught over 40 in two hours.

I know this may not be the right place for this but trying to get visibility, so I beg forgiveness.

Found a weimereiner in Dularge this evening. Around the Bayou LaBout area off the Ship Channel. He had a hunting vest and training collar on. I have the dog at my house.

Please help get the word out.

Thanks

Rick

Camp Supplies
I am remodeling my camp on Bayou Decade. I have some things I'm not going to reuse; tub, oven, kitchen & bathroom sinks, some metal cabinets. If anyone in the area could use them let me know. They are free to a good home!

Thanks

Rick

Guys this weather call for an old "Paul Dudek Hypothermia Alert." Everyone who is hunting this weekend please take precaution. Don't do anything stupid. Carry some extra clothes and if you get wet, GET HOME!!! Don't want to read about anyone in the paper.

Not many ducks in Dularge. Reports were bad saturday and the saturday afternoon looked like sunday. Everyone was leaving. Most people didn't hunt sunday. We picked up a new lease this year that no one has hunted in a couple of years. There is a hole on it that has been holding birds. We killed 18 greys by 6:50 saturday. Went back this morning and got our 18 for around 10am. 36 greys on open opening weekend on limited birds. Exstatic about that! Tooka my 16 month old lab was on the money saturday. 12 marks, 6 blinds only 1 blind reqired 2 whistles. Had her first encounter with a pissed off quacking hen and only got her more fired up. I was worried about that. Last duck of the day was a quacker and a diver, she stayed in the area and handled it beautifully. Couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Mako, my friends 2 year old dog, was outstanding today.

Tooka's second hunt today. Lots of teal. Picked up 9 birds. She actually saw 3 fall out of the sky this morning. One Perry shot landed 5 feet from her! Some blinds 30 yards into the grass. 3 cold blinds as I had her sit while we were being bomdared. Very happy about the work today. Shes getting the idea.

Early January, just getting around to messing with the gopro. If you remember we had a few days of fog in a row. Usually that makes for bad hunts but we got lucky.

Thanks, that's the plan!

Darryl, I hunt in Dularge, South of Houma. About 3 years ago I shot a bird that I couldn't identify. Internet pics, Game Warden & State biologist confirmed an immature goldeneye. They can absolutely get to Delacroix.

Where is your lease? You're probably better off trying coontail. That's whats growing in my brackish ponds.

You will enjoy your White Lake hunt. Can't bring your dog, though. Bring gun, shells, snacks, food. They provide everything else. Don't shoot everything that comes in early, hold out a little for late flying mallards. Be sure to check the ice chest on the side of the boat shed.Good luck.

A comment titled: . in response to a report titled: Dog training advice.

The only way for a dog to be gun shy is lack of proper exposure. Gun shyness is not picked up from another dog. It is definitely curable, I have done it. It will positively take longer than 30 days no matter who you send this dog to. I would suggest contacting a trainer or a local retriever club and ask if you can attend a training day. You will be better served in the long run making sure this is taken care of properly.

Love the Drake products. Have plenty of them. Don't know who makes the waders for them but I have seen at least 4 pairs split open at the seam of the boot or knee.

A comment titled: ... in response to a report titled: Request for Comment on Proposed Duck Season Dates

Larry, I appreciate all of your efforts to get the duck hunters opinions on the impending changes. It is something we all talk about, 'I would do this or that.' You have made every effort to get a grass roots opinion.

Also, for what it's worth, under the available Federal guidelines, I think you have proposed the best scenario.

A comment titled: ... in response to a report titled: Gun Shy Lab - How to Train?

Look into the 'Masters Voice' program. Best way to fix gunshyness is to take your time and do it right when introducing the gun. Very hard to cure, very easy to prevent.
