Has anyone fished the protection levee in Golden Meadows yet this year?

February 10, 2011 at 11:43am

I have read more then once on the site, where people were saying that mallards are not as smart as grey's. I have been duck hunting 25± yrs, and have yet to see a grey slicker than a mallard.I have a blind in a ag field on family land, that I hunt mostly, but have hunted marsh, and timber. I am just curious as to how many people feel the same as I do as to where a mallard is harder to call and decoy then a grey. I have shot my fair share of both, but would love to find a place where they have some stupid mallards lol.

How would I go about tagging a deer for youth hunt?

My family is going to wild wood from 3rd-10th of July. We would like to catch a few fish while we there. We have lights for the boats to fish sac-a-lait at night, but not sure what to expect.I have fished bass on Rayburn and the bend, but never this time of year.I will more then likely hire a guide to fish sac-a-lait during daylight with my daughter. If anyone has been lately or could guide me in the right direction on anything I posted would be greatly appreciative. I have been working in Fourchon for a year now,and staying in Leeville so I can put you on a few fish down here you ever come this way. Thanks Luke

I have fished mono my whole life. I have tried power pro ,but done with that lol . I usually use black widow by hi-seas. I have noticed it is not holding up well on the oyster beds.I like it a lot very lil memory and small diam but losing fish ,and hooks. Tried stren, berkley, and a few others, but still have not found one that I like for strength or memory. I fish 17 to 20 pd test.Do ya'll have any recommendations. The black widow did well until I started fishing a lot of oyster bottoms

A comment titled: Cracks in response to a report titled: Help ! Cracked Aluminum Hull

If the guy has a fabrication shop, I am sure he has a tig machine just check with him hopefully the guy who did it before did not burn up the metal. As for the brazing it is probably junk, that would be good for jewelry lol, the tensil strength just want be there.

A comment titled: Welding in response to a report titled: Help ! Cracked Aluminum Hull

I hope you can get it fixed. It will probably keep cracking on the sides of the weld, once you weld up a crack with especially mig your heat affected zone gets wider, and weakens your metal. If I where you I would try and get them to tig it. Tig will not put as much heat on your aluminum.

A comment titled: Belle Pass in response to a report titled: Fourchon Report and Crew Boat Wake

Things happen real fast in Belle Pass. Last July we were fishing the West side of the pass in a 20' aluminum boat, on a slick calm afternoon with no boat in sight. My ole lady soon as we got there hooks a bull red off the back of the boat. So me and my cousin go to the back to net the fish which pops off not a few minutes we where there. I turn around to go back to the bow, and here comes I MEAN A HUGE WAVE, which is just 30 yds from us. I tell them to hold on to the CC as I try get anchor up in time. First wave can't pull it up in time and the second on is already capping. I run to the back crank the motor and ride the wave, but got 2' water already in boat. Needles to say third one flipped us over from bow to stern. I come up first then my cousin, no ole lady dive down to see and get rolled around by another wave. When I come up for air she was there. She was tangled in something under the boat she cried. Lost all of our stuff, but the Lord did not let us lose our lives. The name of the crew boat was the Megan Jolie which passed through the pass as we were in the water. I am very thankful that my now 3 month old son was fine and so were we all. Be very cautious around the Belle Pass area! Tight lines
