I am located in St. Amant, 30 min from Baton Rouge, and I'm looking to get a pond dug. Does anyone know of someone in the area that will dig for free or at a low rate in exchange for keeping/selling the soil?
Thanks in advance!
Last weekend we had a small Silverfin(Asian jumping carp) jump in the boat while we were riding, so I decided to keep it and see for myself if they had any food value. I was careful to keep the fillets clean and away from the skin and internals due to their strong fishy smell, and there is also an annoying row of bones to work around. I've heard that they're ok if you prepare them the right way, but i wanted to see if they're edible when just fried. I used Zatarain's Seasoned Fish Fry with a little extra Tony's and prepared them just like any fried redfish or trout. The flavor was very good, and they were a little soft like white trout fillets. Overall, they ended up very nice and I'm planning a bowfishing trip to expand the research. I'd also like to see if they have value as offshore cut bait next summer.
