Had a couple buddies come over from Tallahassee and meet up with Nightfisher and myself to go fishing. We took advantage of Captain Ryan Young's spring special and let me tell you we had a blast!!!! Even though the fishing was tough and we only caught 6 keeper reds and a speck, we must have caught between 60 and 70 reds all on plastics! Captain Ryan did everything in his power to make it a memorable trip and it sure was!! I would highly recommend his services and look forward to our next trip together!

Been thinking about a spec. trip this Sunday down to Boudreaux. Anybody had any reports from down that way? Are they still under the birds or maybe in the canal. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just thought I'd share a picture of a BIG bear that has been eating my corn at my club in Florida

Went to Elmers Island to fish the surf for a little while Saturday. Did pretty good on the specs but noticed a huge amound of dead fish on the beach. They were mostly big jacks and bull reds. Anybody else see this or want to guess what caused it?

I recently aquired a small generator to run some lights on my 16 ft G-3 for gigging. I used to just use 12 volt batteries and DC lights. Is this overkill? If not, how do you insulate the generator to make as little noise and vibration as possible. Thanks for your input.

Had a great morning Saturday in Delacroix fishing the duck ponds with Nightfisher (Scott), and another Florida transplant Mike. Started out getting a great deal on a launch at the brand new Sweetwater ramp. Hit the water at daylight and had a limit of reds plus a couple bonus black drum in no time.We had several double and even triple hookups with all the huge schools we found. Good thing the fishing was so hot because I dont know how much longer we could have handled the heat. Caught 3 29 inch reds and most of the others were between 25 and 27 inches. Caught all on plastics. When we got back to the ramp, Capt. Jack Payne (owner of the ramp) Had free lunch for all the customers that had launched that day. I know what ramp I'm using from now on! Over all great day on the water and worth the trip from BR.

Man what a crazy weather weekend! Despite better judgement, Nightfisher and I decided to shoot on down to the fishin' hole and the specs were there! Ended up with a nice mess, rain soaked clothes and some crazy stories. At one point in time, they were biting so good that I caught 2 keeper specs one one jig at one time! Hooked 'em both! Nightfisher lost one right at the bank and reached in and put the death grip on him! Overall, great day. Looking forward to the next trip Nightfisher!

I'm going on a snow goose trip in northern Arkansas next week and was wondering if anybody had any reports from up there?

February 18, 2009 at 9:37am

I just moved here from Florida and I know it isn't the best season for catching trout and reds but I'm dying here. Is there anything going on on the west, or nw side of Pontchartrain. I'm in Baton rouge area but dont mind dragging the boat a little ways. What is a good landing where I wouldn't have to run too far to catch fish?

Anybody been doing any good for specs and reds off of 434 in Lacombe? I'm thinking about checking it out. Is there still bank access?

I would say that is a hybrid. Body is too deep to be a striper.

Stripers sometimes have uneven lines. Hybrids have a deeper body than the Stipers do. Whites have very faint bars at the top of their back.. Do you have any pictures of these fish?

A comment titled: Both in response to a report titled: Ruddock Fishing

We have mostly been using jigs because you can cover more territory and find the fish faster. Once you find them then you can use shiners.

A comment titled: Pretty good in response to a report titled: Ruddock Fishing

We have been doing pretty fair over there. The bass and sacs have been pretty hungry. Need to fish it soon though because the weeds are quickly taking over the back sloughs and that is where the fish have been.
