Anybody been to Lake St. John recently? We are camping at Natchez State Park this weekend and was contemplating driving over and fishing for our limit of Catfish one day. Where are some hot spots that we need to hit. Hook me up with some popular GPS coordinates. I would love to limit out on eaters.

Also, Where is the nearest boat ramp to the state park? Would I need to drive on to the Spokane resort?

EDIT: I'm not asking for you to put fish in my boat. Just a newbie trying to figure out where to start on a 2100 acre body of water

May hit a bait shop. Normally around my house, you can pull more than you can handle. The dry weather lately has ran them deeper down. Hard to find even one as of yesterday. Going to dig some this afternoon to see what I can find

Thank you. That was all I needed to hear. The only other oxbow i have ever fished is Lake Washington in North central Ms. Also, the nightcrawler population is kind of scarce around here right now (Fingers crossed it improves with the little touch of rain we have gotten). Will catalpa worms be productive?

This is first time I have been in like 25 years. Just trying to figure out where to even begin on a huge body of water. I appreciate the advice. Last Time I was here I was barely old enough to talk. Just wanted to see if there were some hotspots someone might be willing to share. I will enjoy it no matter what, just want to spend my time with the 8 year old nephew productively.

My first inclination is to try and find somewhat of a secluded area from Ski Boats to begin to fish.
