Went to the trashpile this afternoon and had some fun with brother in law. Birds galore, ladyfish galore, gafftops galore, but did find some keepers.

My son's first deer. Saturday morning, 30-30 @ 80 yds. We had been seeing her for 3 mornings during Thanksgiving week. He was just "working up" the courage to shoot. You can see he shot the wrong end, I hope the steaks turn out ok.

Congratulations on her first kill. It's something special when your kid kills their first. My son killed his first deer this past year with the same gun I killed my first deer with.

Congratulations, Tyler on joining the club of hunters and outdoor sportsman. Dad great job of bringing him into the world of hunting. This is something you will NEVER forget. I remember my oldest son killing his first last year and I treasure that memory. Again, congrats and keep on hunting. Like a local bumper sticker says "Kids that hunt and fish don't steal and deal."

A comment titled: Coons in response to a report titled: Coon attack any ideas how to stop em

I use chicken wire on my feeder. I wrap it all around the bottom of the feeder and turn all the cut pieces out so they have to navigate around while getting stuck. Corn falls through the holes in the wire. I've been using that for two years and so far no coons, especially since they pulled off my whole motor by hanging on the motor until it fell off.

There is a railroad drawbridge right next to Hwy 14 where some people fish from. Other than that you'll probably have to get permission from somebody.

Just got back from the bay, it felt like the devil was in the back of the boat. Went to the trashpile and fished the east side of mud point to get out of the wind. A couple of other boats caught some rat reds and croaker or two. All I got was 1 stinking mullet. But the water was pretty I could see my bait almost 2 feet underwater.

A comment titled: Fallen soldiers in response to a report titled: Salute to American soldiers

As the son of a son of a son...etc of a soldier since the early part of this country's history, patriotism is VERY important in my family. This sargeant that you spoke of is doing one of the most important honors in the armed services. I knew that the military was important growing up but did not understand until I got back from basic. What that sargeant (and many, many others) do for the rest of America can not ever be forgotten, downgraded or a price put on to satisfy some politician or news media fancy.

As some of you know, our Louisiana Army National Guard could be going back to Iraq after the first of the year. If in your community there are family members(wives, husbands, kids, etc.) just a little thank you or even mow their yard to help out is a big help to those families that pay the price for the rest of us to be FREE.

God Bless the Military and God Bless the USA.

He is 11 years old. I built us a 4'x8' box stand this summer so we could have plenty of room, and maybe bring his 8 year old little brother.

I keep a short piece of rope of about 10' long in my hunting gear if I need it to drag with. But if it is small just put it on your shoulders and walk.
