Hunted opening day, Southwest of Kaplan, with Dr. Ray Williams and his guests. There were a good amount of birds. It was foggy, hot and no wind! The early birds flew okay, but after sunrise they flew very high. They would respond to our call but would lose interest after 2 or 3 circles. The decoys, because of no wind, had no movement. Killed 8 Specks.

Leland Landry with Action Oil Field and his guest hunted with us today! Killed eight specks . We saw lots of geese today , they were not responding well to our decoys and calling.. But Leland's group shot really great!

Our hunt was with The Keaty family and friends on 11/28/14 Friday : Conditions were not very good . We had an east wind from 4 to 8 miles per hour , sky was clear . I was not personally expecting the geese to work very well . I was surprised! They worked slowly, but eventually would make it into the pocket . We could have had 30 specks but we were very glad to have killed 27 . This day was much better than I expected . Thank you God for blessing us !

11-25-14 Tuesday hunted again with Neal and Joseph
Faciane and children , also added Paradise Louisiana , and also Don Dubuc ... North wind about 3 miles per hour (not enough) heavy clouds ...We could have had 28 birds we got 20 ... There were lots of geese, more than usual, but the geese did not work well at all .... I wish we would have had wind, it would have been exciting .

11-24-14 Monday we had a hunt with Neal and Joseph Faciane and children ... We had a north wind around 12 miles per hour partly cloudy the geese worked great ... We killed our limit 20 specks it was lots of fun ..

November 27, 2014 at 4:46pm

This morning started slow East wind with clouds . Our large spread should not reflect the sun today . At about 7:30 the geese started moving around and into our spread . We were able to get them fairly close today . We ended the hunt at around 8:30 with 14 specks our limit . The shooting was very good , with close birds .

November 22, 2014 at 2:27pm

This hunt started very slow , east wind and clear . Starting at about 8:30 am we had lots of Geese moving about and into the spread at a low decent . But the sun shining on the large decoy spread and the Geese coming from the west , it seemed like at the last minute they would see our spread shining and flare off .... We ended up with 8 specks and 1 snow . Not bad for bad conditions .

muscovy ducks go with any thing. muscovy teal mix. just kidding looks like a blue wing with no color pigment for the head feathers. it is an imperfection. i hope you mount it, it is unique.

I did not take it as disrespect, just thought I would seize the opportunity to elaberate on the situation with the snows. Goose Guides is trying to solve this dilemma. Watch our reports, I think we have some things worked out. Next hunt is Jan 7th, the 2nd & 3rd was not booked. Thanks for your insight which gave me the opportunity to respond. Hunting where young birds just coming off the nest and uneducated with my crew would be very exciting and maybe criminal. CLINT

Snows are dificult even with electronic callers. The ideal situation is between two feeding flocks. We have not had that luxury this year yet. Most of the specks that we call in are from very high and they always beat the snows down. None of our guests complain about killing too many specks.

OK...I guess the picture is decieving. I am 50, and started killing geese at 12. I must have killed 10,000 geese at about 263 per year, over the past 38 years. A ross's is small goose, that looks exactly like a snow in the white color phase. A snow and a blue are the same size with only a differance in color. We had 2 juvenille snows or the color phase blue and 5 ross's. sorry the picture decieved you.

Nothing awesome, but they seem to be working better than the specks right now. YOU NEVER KNOW FROM DAY TO DAY!
