I have been shopping for a bay boat for the past 2 months and I narrowed my search down to the Skeeter ZX22Bay w/ Optimax 225. I'm planning on fishing more inshore than offshore, but I want the option to go out to the rigs if weather permits. I would like to hear of any pros and cons about this boat before I go through with the purchase.

Water is muddy until you get far South.

Went this past Thursday and fished last isle and had no luck like we heard about from the past days but we did see a boat at the dock with a 4 man limit from Timabalier Island by 10:30.

I know what you mean about fishing on weekdays. I work a shift work schedule and never fish on weekends. Looks like your hooky day paid off. Going later in the week if weather and wind permits.

I recently bought a Skeeter ZX22bay and I had the 8' powerpole installed on it. I wasn't sure how often I would use it until I fished on a very windy day. It is the best thing ever invented. Its not worth getting if you don't get the remote with it. I love mine and I can't imagine not having one on any shallow water fishing boat.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to learn the "D" and any advice I can get is worth its salt. I'll post a report after my trip next week to let you know how we did.

I've only been out to Dularge once this year and that was in February. Are the specks moving south right now or are they still holding more inland? Plan on going next week and debating if I should make a run to Grand Bayou D or hang around Mechant area.
