Went out hunting a big bodied spike I've caught on camera a few times now but as usual he had other appointments I guess. A group of 60-80 pounders decided to visit my plot instead, for the first time I imagine since I've had no other hog pictures, late Saturday evening. I picked out the only sow in the group and took the only shot she would give me from the pack at 60 yards. My first head shot and my first shot out of a 45/70. I was excited to see the hole right where I wanted it. But man does that gun kick like a mule!

Beautiful Buck!! Congrats on the harvest. What part of St. Tammany Parish did the beautiful beast call home?

As far as I know, completely through word of mouth, they did away with the antler restrictions some time ago. But of course that could've just been a rumor. You guys know how the grape vine works. Congrats on the nice Spike though!

A comment titled: Red Fever!! in response to a report titled: Catching redfish in the marsh

Nice catch guys. Caught my first redfish around age 8 and have had the fever ever since. Good sound advice there about the drag though. Give him just enough slack to run but not enough to get to far without stopping for a breather. If that set up is on the higher end you wouldn't want old spot to bust that reel up, which he will if you hook into a bull. Good luck out there and stay safe guys.

Nothing really hitting in the bayou Lacombe area, we had to move down closer to the Bayou Liberty mouth to catch em. We troll from Liberty to the first camp towards the bridges. Good luck on the east!

A comment titled: Lake P in response to a report titled: Chef Pass getting there

I agree the big fish are not in Lake P but fish are there. We've fished the north shore a dozen times in the past couple of months and done pretty well on the specks and reds. Had to weed through a big number of undersized fish to find the keepers but they are there if your just looking for some grease fillers. Nice catch from the pass though.
