Does anyone know of trainer in Louisiana or a neighboring state that trains labs to Point? Would love to have a pointer but dont want to have two dogs. She is already whistle and hand command trained. Please send me any info if you know of someone. Thanks.

this is a little reminder for the people that do this.this morning after fixing my motor, repairing 2 reels that somehow broke, working on my running lights, and working on my trolling motor that i never did get running i finally put it in the water and took off, after a bone jarring kidney brusing ride i found calm water behind a point that the birds just happen to be working.after 5 minutes 8 other boats showed up,my troling motor was out so i would run around the school upwind and drift trough till i was well past the school,we where all catching fine till some dummie come wide the f#!& open and stopps right in the middle and starts casting, well needless to say no caught a single one after that.i know long story but the point is if you dont have trolling motor you can still catch fish. simply drift from up wind dont go running through them and scare them off,you wont earn many freinds doing this and if your not careful you may get a few enemies

you know i fish the vermilion bay area and im sure a lot of people that read these reports do to.im trying more and more to post reports about the area i just keep forgeting to.im sure the fishing in dularge and venice is great but for a change id like to here about other areas, same goes for the articals in the magazine all they write about is dularge, venice, cocodrie, etc, you rarley here here about the vermilion bay marsh island area, its sad cause theres some great fishing had at times around here, maybe not as good as the ares we here about so much but it can be great at times.i sure im not the only person thinking this and if im not i wouldnt mind hereing from a few of you maybe we can do something about it

i agree...depends on where you want to fish and what area is best at the time....if you go around the east side be careful of the shell keys...if you go through the pass be sure to follow the channel markers and your gps....wouldnt recomend doing it at night if your not used to it...if you go around the east side your more probable to fish the south marsh blocks are ei blocks.. they can be good at time but we fished around south marsh 10 and the surrounding area and it wasnt very good..water was green like scum green..ended up going west to the vermilion blocks and did pretty decent...email me if you want some more info i been fishing that area pretty reg.

A comment titled: roosting... in response to a report titled: Roosting Ducks

sounds like there roosting in your ponds and leaving in the morning to feed elsewhere...happend to me a bout 2 years ago on a pond i was hunting....they'll start feeding at night and resting on lakes and rivers during the day if there is a lot od pressure in the area....the water depth seems to be fine, i dont think thats an issue...i agree with the guy before me...try going only afternoons for a few days and give them a break in the mornings...that may trick them and help them stay there a little longer in the mornings...but then again you run the risk of shooting them off the roost...then you end up with no ducks at all...try making a mid day hunt and see what happens...i did that a few times and found them coming back about mid day for some rest and nap i guess...was nice sleeping in and going to blind around noon and shooting mallards and pintails..

A comment titled: try this.. in response to a report titled: Funny Story

ive found peroxide works.....just pour some on your hands and let it soak for a few minutes....better yet as cheap as it is....just pour a hwile bottle into a shallow pan and soak your hands in it....then scrub with a wash rag...works for me...also if you want a void it...use lotion on a very regualr basis and keep you hands moisturized....the water out there dries your hands out and it gets in your cracks....i get it very bad if i dont use lotion..to the point where im embbarased by it..

check your wiring real good and make sure you dont have one of those crossed...its the same as a 12 volt system if you wire a motor backwards it will spin backwards...

i can say much about the point havent been ion a while.we have been doing good on the reds in the marsg around our camp on the boston though.the water is pretty saly but if these winds don calm down it will be to muddy to find any trout.i run lines and nets for catfish comercially and actually for the first time in my life caught 2 trout this pst weekend on my jug lines and several in my hoop nets these lines where in the intercaostal canal so if there that far in they have to have some in the bay. they where all pretty good size to between 2 and 3 pounds.bummer was that i couldnt keep them.ive had one problem with the law already and dont eant another.

A comment titled: one more thing in response to a report titled: Motorized Decoys

you know ive been hunting ohh about 15 years now and ive always read about the duck hunting down in the eastern part of the state.how great it was how the pintails just poured into the delta about hunting geese on the sand bars out in the bays about going out killing limits of duck then getting in the boat and going tear up the trout and reds.you know funny thing is when the east is kiling the west usally isnt. vise versa.now when the east is killing you dont hear anything about theres no birds are we need to shorten limits are the season is closing to early.but yet when they arnt killing you get posts like the one im commenting on.ive hunted with alot of old timers and theve all said its been like this for years and years.its a cycle.its like when you kids and you perents make you share you dont really want but you dont ahve a choice so you have to.well in this case mom is mother nature and i want to see the person that can tell her no.

A comment titled: ok in response to a report titled: Motorized Decoys

ok just to show a few of yall that robos dont really help all that much we did a little test for our self this year.out nof the 10 full time guides we use used them on almost every hunt and 5 didnt.the ones that didnt use them on a regulaer basis me included atully killed more than the others.we where hunting the same sction of marsh hunting the same birds.also just for the hell of 3 of us went out one morning and at one blind put out 15 dozen decoys on a big lake and 3 robos 1 person stayed there and called.300 yards away 2 of us set 8 decoys and no robos.we limited out before the other blind did.you know there was plenty of ducks,in some areas there wasnt much i do understand that but in ours there was more than enough.but still many hunters from our area complained there wasnt any becasue they werent killing any.people these ducks arent dumb it takes alot of work to get these birds in.i beleave that, now no body get mad at me but i think that alot of hunters are just getting lazy.i see time and time again.take a plane ride over the marsh and youd be amazed at what you see.9 out 10 times you can spot every blind and every hunter in the blind.what think those ducks are seeing.in clear water areas you see 5 dozen decoys out in the pond and the water is still clear as can be.if that where real ducks the water would be muddy as hell.i think people need to stop blaming others and the state and du and delta waterfowl for not killing.du hasnt done anything to hurt us if anything there the reason we still have ducks.they have been around for how long if not for them i promise you wouldnt see half the ducks oyu do now.delta is up and comeing and yes support them to there here for us.and like i said before maybe its good that where not killing to much now dont yall want yalls kids to be able to kill a few when they get older.i know i do and i dont even have any yet so save my kids a few please

A comment titled: blind in response to a report titled: Pit Blind

you know cost isnt really the problem.its getting one period.well getting one worth a crap.it dpends alot on thye place and owner yuor looking at anywhere 1500 to 7000 yes some people pay that much.also when you find one make sure and ask qeustions like is water garunteed what about acsess can you drive bikes in the field? how close is the is it to other blinds.its also i good idea to get the number of past leasers and call them.see how nice the land owner was and if they had any problems.the farmer is another thing find out who farms it and what there like. i know alot of people that leased a blind and owner was nice but the farmer was a dick.i lost one of my last leases because of the farmer.there not all bad there is some that are.its hard to say what they will cost i pay 6000 for one area that has 2 blinds and 2000 for another area that has 2 blinds so it varies
