On the second week of January I decided it was time to stop hunting the club box stands and try a different strategy. I grabbed my Old Man climbing stand and headed for an area I was sure wasn't visited by hunters this season. As I arrived in the area to check for any evidence of deer I was surprised by the amount of traffic that seemed to be walking across this clover field. I then started looking for a tree to climb a tree that would provide the best view of the field but also be able to keep a close watch of the 2 bottoms that seemed to lead deer directly in my direction. I climbed the tree and waited, waited for the magic hour to come around. As the light was starting to recede from the woods I was starting to give up any hope I had of seeing a nice buck. I covered my scope back up and was starting to unload my rifle when I looked up and saw this nice buck strutting across the field. I then fumbled my rifle trying to take my scope cover back off and nearly dropped it from the stand. I raised my rifle and immediately found the big fella in my scope. He never stopped moving so I was going to either have to stop him or take a moving shot. By this time he wasn't far from the other side of the field when I decided to just take the shot. I squeezed the trigger and the gun fired. I watched this deer hit the ground, then make one last effort to flee as it seemed like the 140 grain Nosler Accubond bullet did its job. I climbed out of my stand and found no evidence that I had even hit him on the field. No hair, blood, bone, etc. I was starting to worry that I might have wounded this beautiful buck. Then to my surprise I saw a glimpse of horns from the edge of the field. In his last efforts to flee he ran off the edge and crashed down towards a deep bottom that fell off the side of the field. I was like a little kid when I got closer to him and saw the actual size of this buck, I couldn’t wait to start the bragging as I immediately started calling friends and snapping pictures of this deer. I’ve been hunting since I was 9yrs old and have shot plenty of deer but this is by far the best buck I’ve ever shot

Does anyone know anything about the sea fox brand boats? I have heard that they have problems with stress cracks in the boat and other issues. I was also looking at the blue wave 220 pure bay. Please if anyone has any info on the sea fox or the blue wave please let me know. Also which one is the better boat? I am looking to sell my 20Ft for at least a 22ft. The sea fox I am looking at is the 245BF.. Thanks

Went fishing yesterday. Even with the high winds we caught our limits of some really nice red fish in the shallow ponds of Lafitte. We hid the boat behide some trees to get out of the wind and just fished the current coming around the point. We couldn't have had more fun.

A comment titled: Drabbit in response to a report titled: Dog hunting rules

Now I understand the reason you are constantly posting crap in the thread with the dead dogs and this thread also proves I was right about you! Deer hunting with dogs should be illegal for the reasons that the dogs are constantly on others property and ruining still hunter’s hunts. The dogs are at a liable risk of being shot or shot at which puts the dogs life in danger. Most states have a leash law which is being broken by dog hunters like you. I have no issues with a person that will keep track of their dogs and being respectful to other hunters (remember we are all in this for the same reasons). But when you turn your damn dogs loose and don’t give a rats if they cross onto other properties in hopes they might run a good deer your way is absolutely pathetic!

A comment titled: Another issue.. in response to a report titled: Dogs shot

I want to ask a question to see how folks might feel about another issue I have come across. I've known guys that trap Coyotes on their hunting property in an attempt to thin them out. If another hunter’s dog gets caught in the coyote trap on private property whose issue should it be? I've seen these guys argue over this issue plenty of times and I have to side with the land owner or leaser. Keep your dogs off the property then they won't get caught in the coyote traps.. Sorry if this sounds harsh but why do people run dogs for deer, rabbits anyway? I can understand using your dog for duck hunting. I think using dogs to deer or rabbit hunt should be outlawed!! Just my opinion, sorry if this offends anyone..

A comment titled: Hunter in response to a report titled: Dogs shot

Hunter, you say you spend a lot of money on your dogs but what about all the money I spend on my food plots? Equipment, fuel, seed, feeders, etc. I guarantee I have spent more money on my deer lease than you have on your dogs. I'm not for shooting dogs but after you have exhausted every effort to prevent those dogs from coming onto your property (this includes talking to the dog owner) what else should be done? (If the dogs are bothering your hunting ground find a new place to hunt?) Why do I have to find a new place to hunt? Think about what you’re saying man! You are being unreasonable and I'm sure an attitude like this towards other hunters solves nothing.. If you continue to run your dogs on my property after I've asked you to keep track of them. I'm going to trap them and bring them miles away so eventually you will get tired of going out of your way to get your dogs or I will call the law on you and press charges for tresspassing everytime I see you on the property.!! Problem solved?

A comment titled: Dogs in response to a report titled: Dogs shot

I use to lease some land in Washington Parish Louisiana for deer hunting. I had the same issue there as these guys had with those dogs. I cannot tell you how many times I was sitting in my deer stand just to watch the neighbors hunting dogs come run and piss all over my food plot and piss on my feeder. Hell I had more pictures of the hunting dogs on my camera than I did of deer. Now I had several talks with the dog owner about this issue to try and come to some sort of solution just to get all the common excuses in response. (Dogs don't know property lines, etc). Since I kept running into the same problem I had enough of the issue and thought it was time I called the hunters bluff.. I set none lethal traps around my food plot that was too small for a deer to get into and started trapping his dogs. When I got to the property and there was dogs in the traps I would take the dog 30-40 miles away from the property and let the dog loose on the side of the road.. I never saw a person so pissed in my life and when he would approach me about it all I would say is I told you to keep your dogs off my property!! You inconvenience me I’m going to do the same to you.

I've hunted in fields with cows before and saw the biggest buck I've ever seen in the woods. Matter of fact I wouldn't have even seen him if the cows wouldn't have been around. They gave him away. He was trying to sneak past me on the far wood line and the cows were all looking at him.. lol

No matter how persuasive you think your friend the cop may be to the out of towners he cannot do them anything. He could not issue a summons because no one has broken the law. It would be up to you to hire an attorney and take the said party to court. Basically your word against mine type of issue.. Cone on man stop grasping at straws.. And I was correct by saying it was a domestic dispute at that point. Because we are arguing over no fish and none payment..

A comment titled: Drew-b in response to a report titled: Charter Trip Catastrophe

If I pay you to take me out fishing and we caught a few hardheads and then you headed back. You sir would not get paid... If you decided to contact the police department I would offer my assistance because at this point it becomes a domestic dispute. I paid for a service and the service wasn't fulfilled. I completely understand that there are good and bad days on the water but at this point it should be up to the captain of the boat to make the call to go out and take a shot or not.. This is what he is getting paid for. If the captain recommends a reschedule and the client refuses then it is on the client... The service was filled at this point... I don't want to continue beating a dead subject but in any business if you pay for a service you expect it to be fulfilled...

A comment titled: Charter fisherman's stress?? in response to a report titled: Charter Trip Catastrophe

You guys have got to be kidding me right? Charter fisherman’s life is full of stress? That would be the comment of a person who has never had to really do back breaking work for a buck! Dig ditches in the blazing sun all day or have to empty garbage cans all day.. A charter fisherman picks his own job just like the rest of us. We all work hard for our money and to have terrible service like the OP had is just unacceptable! I would have not paid the whole bill. He would have gotten maybe $200.00 and I would have walked out the door. He was paid for a service and didn't deliver! If you think the charter captain is right I'm selling top not used cars for a great price. Come and buy one from me!

You showed how much you are willing to help with your negative comments.. I am not here for an argument to see who's got the best insults. No matter what your opinion of his question is, it solved nothing to blirt out trash like that to someone that is seeking help or advice for a good fishing spot.. I understand your argument just not the way you went about doing it.. Have a blessed day..

Your comment is just on called for! Not everone can fish everyday and know all the hot spots.. If you can't be courteous and answer the question then why make a comment at all? To the OP. I don't have any hot spots to answer your question but I have caught a few nice trout by the rocks in the pass using live shrimp and crockers.. Or at night you can fish the lights by the bridge.. Good luck my friend..
