Rick Davison came in from Texas with his brother Graig and friend Richard. The guys were scheduled to fish Thursday and Friday. We woke up Friday to rain so the guys headed back to Texas only fishing Thursday. Luckily, Thursday’s weather and fishing was great. We started out fishing a tide line with Matrix Shad in the Green Hornet and Shrimp Creole. Water temp was 53 which is still cold but the trout were starving. To my surprise we were met with a bunch of throwbacks with a few keepers being mixed in. I thought about leaving but decided to be a little patient and like a light switch turned on we started catching mainly keepers pretty much every cast. The trout preferred a tight line worked like a worm rather than a straight retrieve. We did catch a few under a cork but tightlined was where it was at. As we were fishing for trout the banks were alive with redfish chasing bait so after we finished up the trout we moved to the bank and started drifting. The water was low but very clean allowing us to sight cast a few. We even had a drum and a Sheepshead hit our plastic as lagniappe. With very little wind the gnats started to come out and instead of fighting them we decided to head back to the Reel Inn.
