On the final day of the deer hunting trip in Sonora, Texas, Bruce McDonald harvested a big doe to fill his deer tag allotment. Bruce harvested two 10 point bucks and 3 does. Dr Tony Trentcoste also filled his deer tag allotment. Dr Mike McComb only took one big 8 point but will return with his son, Mikey in two weeks. ' I have harvested deer in 6 states and 2 continents, this is the best concentration of deer in North America.' Dr Mike McComb said. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department biologist confirm this report declaring the Edwards Plateau region as the highest concentration of whitetail deer in the world. Sonora is located in Sutton County in the southwest region of Texas. ' It was enjoyable to sit in a deer stand and see as many as 15 to 20 deer a hunt. That's a lot of deer in one week. I was able to watch an learn deer reaction to movement, smell, using wind direction to their advantage, other deer, hiarchy within the deer herd, and finally the rut was kicking in. Can't wait for next year! ' Bruce McDonald said. The last task was to stop at Rough Creek Taxidermy an pickup our deer head which had been caped out. According to Louisiana state law, it is unlawful to bring out of state deer brain and spinal cord tissue back into the state to prevent the spread of Cronic Wasting Disease or CDW. 'The weather cooperated beautifully the entire time of our hunts. Temperatures ranged in the upper 30's to low 70's with clear skies the entire time.
