Bamboozled by a Bobcat: Harris shares life stories in new book

Glynn Harris is one of the best known names in Louisiana outdoor writing. Besides writing regular newspaper columns, he has also been a regular contributor to Louisiana Sportsman magazine for years.

Now he has taken his stories to a new level, penning his first book. And as you can imagine, there’s a story behind the title, but you’ll have to read the book to find out.

You can purchase Harris’ new book, ‘Bamboozled by a Bobcat: A Louisiana Boy’s Dirt Road Recollections’ on Amazon.

The book is more than a compilation of fishing and hunting stories, it’s a story of Glynn’s life growing up in a time that most people today could not even imagine.

The book is part memoirs of days growing up in the country on a red dirt road even before indoor plumbing, and part autobiography. But it is all full of good natured stories laced with humor and a passion and appreciation for life.

Glynn has some advice in the book for younger folks who might end up writing about their outdoor adventures, or pursuing any dream, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. He said:

“Follow your dream. When I was a school kid in Goldonna, I developed a love for picking up pencil and paper and writing something – anything. I’d look at what I’d written and thought it was pretty good. Looking back today on some of my early writings, they weren’t pretty good – they were pretty bad. However, just doing something I loved to do had merit because it eventually led to me becoming a published writer.

“I didn’t have the full picture at the time of what writing would ultimately mean to me. Looking back on it now, I can see God’s hand steering me in that direction and opening doors.”
