Tourist video shows guide swimming and feeding alligators in Jefferson Parish
We’re probably all familiar with signs instructing folks against the potential hazards of interacting with wildlife.
‘Don’t feed the bears’ and ‘Don’t feed the pigeons’ are pretty well-known, but a Lafitte swamp tour guide might need a new one: ‘Don’t feed the gators.’
The Associated Press featured a story of the guide caught on a tourist’s video camera frolicking in the water with several wild alligators, feeding them pieces of raw chicken and at one point, a marshmallow – directly from his mouth.
According to the report, there is no state law prohibiting luring and feeding alligators, but it’s against the law in Jefferson Parish where the tour company is based.
I think comedian Bill Engvall might suggest another kind of sign.
