Elmer’s Island to close for one week starting Oct. 24

7-day closure for installation of parking area, LDWF says

Elmer’s Island and its access road will close for seven days starting on Monday, Oct. 24, for another construction project, according to a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The week-long closure will be for road repairs and the installation of a parking area at the end of the access road.

Vehicular traffic on the access road will resume once repairs are complete, the release states.

As a reminder, vehicles are no longer be allowed on the beaches at Elmer’s Island.
