Additional Cocodrie waters reopen to fishing tomorrow (June 12)

‘We feel they are safe,’ official says

Another portion of the waters outside Cocodrie re-open to fishing tomorrow (June 12) morning a half hour before sunrise, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced.

This latest action reopens water including most of Bay St. Elaine, a portion of Tambour Bay Sale and Mangrove Bay.

Reopening are inshore waters north of 29 degrees 8 minutes 19 seconds north latitude from 90 degrees 39 minutes 26.8 seconds west longitude north to the eastern shore of the Houma Navigation Canal westward to the eastern shore of Bayou Grand Caillou at its intersection with 90 degrees 49 minutes 00 seconds west longitude and southward along 90 degrees 49 minutes 00 seconds west longitude.

These waters have been closed since late May because of reports of oil.

All other closures remain in effect.
