Boat registration increase effective Jan. 1

$9 bump for each boating length category; fees will be used to fight aquatic plants, LDWF says

Effective Jan. 1, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is advising all boat owners in the state that motorboat registration fees have increased by $9 for each length category.

The table below illustrates the old and new fees for boats ranging from under 14 feet to more than 38 feet. Motorboat registrations are valid for a three-year period, according to the department.

The additional fees are a result of Act 698 of the 2018 Regular Legislative Session and will be dedicated to LDWF’s Aquatic Plant Control Fund and will be used to fight aquatic plants and invasive aquatic species across the state.
