Jax Hellmers, 11, was hunting with his dad, Sheldon, over the youth hunt weekend on Nov. 1, 2023 on private property in Slidell. They showed up late for an evening hunt because Jax had school that day. They were only in the stand maybe 20 minutes and this beautiful 9-point, 183-pound buck stepped out! Jax put an awesome shot on him with a 30-06 rifle and dropped him! He said he could not have asked for a better hunt! This is his 6th deer, but his biggest one yet and his first wall hanger! He’s hunting for one to top this one now he said!
