Carrying on the hunting tradition

Allyce Bordelon, 11, shot the spike at 100 yards on her very first hunt and first time shooting a rifle (243 cal.) on private land in Avoyelles Parish. She was in the stand with her dad, Derek, and her twin sister, Autumn, on Nov. 11.

“The hunting tradition runs very deep in my family. As a youth hunter with my dad when I was younger I could only see my side of the hunting experience. Well on Nov. 11, 2023, I got to experience what my dad experienced while watching me harvest a deer. She shot the spike at 100 yards. The deer only went 30 yards and fell dead. We rocked the box stand with excitement. My wife Brittany Bordelon and I are very proud of her and her sister for carrying on the hunting tradition!”
