Brynlee Tull’s first deer

Brynlee Tull, 12, killed her first deer, a 4-point buck, on public land in Area 2 on the evening of Nov. 21.

“We didn’t have long to hunt but she wanted to make an evening hunt so we snuck down a ridge into a bottom where I have been seeing a bunch of deer cruising and feeding lately. On the way in we saw two does feeding through a thicket so we decided to go set up on the same trail we saw those deer on. After being set up for about 15 minutes, I looked to my left and saw this buck feeding through the same thicket headed straight towards us, so I told Brynlee to get ready. The buck ended up feeding around and crossing the creek and presented a perfect broadside shot at about 30-40 yards. Brynlee made a perfect shot on him. We watched him run off and when we saw him crash we both went crazy screaming and hugging each other with excitement! The first thing Brynlee said when she laid hands on her very first deer was “THANK YOU GOD!! I prayed so hard for this!” Talk about an emotional moment as her dad to witness her accomplish killing a deer and then giving all the credit to God!!”
