Bass boat strikes tree in Labor Day accident on Bayou Black, LDWF says

Victim transported to University Hospital in New Orleans

A 52-year-old man was injured Monday morning on Bayou Black when he apparently lost control of his bass boat and struck a tree.

Preliminary information released by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reveals the accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. in the Shell Canal portion of the bayou.

In an email, Adam Einck, media relations director for LDWF’s enforcement division, said another boater behind the bass boat witnessed the accident and contacted authorities.

The victim, who was not identified, was transported to University Hospital in New Orleans with chest and head injuries, Einck said.
