Fishing without eye protection is a pain, especially in the high-glare offshore environment. But keeping sunglasses clean is the devil.
Spray and splashes seem to hit the lens every five minutes.
The water evaporates to leave an oily salt residue that smears rather than wipes clean, especially when the angler tries to use a dry corner of his shirt or a hand-rag that is already cruddy after its first use.
Capt. Ed Frekey solved that problem: He stows microfiber cloths in a zipper-type plastic bag on the boat.
The cloths are designed to clean glass, they are the right size for the task and they are easy to clean. Simply drop them in a washing machine.
