Arrest made in stabbing of Northwestern State angler

Andrew Jacob Wallace currently being held without bond, Natchitoches sheriff says

Detectives with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old Natchitoches man Monday night for second-degree murder in connection with Saturday night’s stabbing of Dylan Kyle Poche at the Lake Sibley boat launch.

According to a press release, Andrew Jacob Wallace, of the 4700 block of Highway 3278, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

He had previously been arrested Saturday night on probation violation charges after the stabbing investigation began, and was being held in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Centerm the release states.

On Monday afternoon, detectives recovered a “critical piece of evidence” near the crime scene, the release states.

Poche is the nephew of Bassmaster Elite Series pro Keith Poche, and was a member of the Northwestern State University bass fishing team.

A press conference with more information on the case is scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., according to the release.
