Shreveport’s KTBS-TV reported Sunday that Dylan Poche suffered a fatal stab wound to the upper-body in the incident, which occurred after 11:30 p.m.

Poche is the nephew of Bassmaster Elite Series pro Keith Poche, who acknowledged the incident on his Facebook page Sunday.

“Last night our family suffered a terrible tragedy. We lost my nephew Dylan Poche to a senseless act of violence. He was a good kid, a great big brother and an awesome fisherman that fished for Northwestern State University with a bright future,” Keith Poche wrote. “He is truly going to be missed by so many. Please keep our family in your prayers during this time.”

Northwestern’s bass team also acknowledged the loss on its Facebook page.

“He was easy to get along with and a good guy! Please keep his family, friends and our team in your prayers,” the post reads. “You will be missed buddy. Catch us a big one up in heaven!”

Dylan Poche’s younger brother managed to keep the suspect at the scene until police arrived, and the suspect is in custody, according to KTBS.

No motive in the case has been released.
