Shell Beach Speckled Trout
Paul Saltiformaggio Sr. and his two sons, Mikey and Paul Jr., met me in Shell Beach to get in on some of the speckled trout action we’ve had lately. The fish made us work for them. It’s not that we didn’t catch fish, it’s just that they were on the small side. I made several moves and my guys stuck with me, so we could top off the box. The guys fish with me pretty regularly, so I’ll see them again this fall.rnrnJakamo South is a Louisiana charter fishing guide service operating out of Shell Beach, just 25 miles south of the New Orleans French Quarter. Slow and Steady wins the race!
Loren LaBlanc, of West End Roofing supply, his brothers Lyle and Atticus, and Mom, Lorain fished with me for a LaBlanc family speckled trout slaying. From the second the corks hit the water we were catching fish. Now, I wouldn't say the fish were going nuts, but the bite was really steady. When I couldn't take it anymore, I finally made a move. I found pretty much the same bite on another reef nearby. As they say, slow and steady wins the race, and that's how our day went. Thanks again, Loren! I'll see you soon!rnrnJakamo South is a charter fishing service out of Shell Beach, La, just 25 miles south of the New Orleans French Quarter. It's a Speckled Trout Showdown
Robin Deloach of United Rentals joined me with with his wife Holly, one of his clients Sean, and Renee. The fish gods were on our side today. As soon as we stopped the boat, the speckled trout started flying over the gunwale. The ladies were really putting on a show, while the boys, well they were just trying to keep up. A storm popped up on us and the the waves got rough, so we were forced to bail and seek the shelter of a nearby shoreline. As I pulled up, there were diving birds and bait showering out of the water in every direction. So it goes without saying, the speckled trout went nuts. The clouds kept us in the shade all morning and we barely broke a sweat. I wish every day was this easy! Special thanks to United Rentals and Captain Kerry for setting up the trip.rnrnI still have some dates available for both July and August. Premier Auto Crew
Another great trip with Paul Mavis and the Premier Auto group. Capt. Jonathan helped me run the crew, and as usual, they were not disappointed. The day started off strong. At our first stop, in Elio, we put close to 50 in the box. We had to make several more stops in the bay, putting only 5-10 fish in at each stop. My guys stuck with me, and we eventually topped off our box. I wouldn\'t call it an easy day. The speckled trout definitely made us work for them. One stop shop!
Jason Hunt and Andy Martin jumped on board and we absolutely slammed the speckled trout today. We only needed 1 stop today. The fish were steady biting but never went nuts. To be honest, I almost left 3 times. My crew was patient and it paid off. We beat the heat and whacked the speckled trout!\r\n\r\nJakamo South is a charter fishing service out of Shell Beach, La, just 25 miles south of the New Orleans French Quarter. Another great speckled trout trip!
Justin Frey and his two buddies, Gene and Augie, joined me again for another speckled trout smack down. We made several stops in Bay Eloi and finally on the last stop we hit pay dirt. My crew couldn’t get lines in the water fast enough. We finished up early and beat the heat. It\'s a trout smackdown!
Pat Kelley brought his two sons and his crew from mobile down to bayou country for two days of awesome fishing. They stayed down at the lodge, and on the first night we enjoyed some crawfish and libations. Capt. Kerry and Capt. Danny helped me run the trip and all boats put a smack down on trout. Looking forward to next time Mr. Pat!\r\nJakamo South is a charter fishing service out of Shell Beach, La, just 25 miles south of the New Orleans French Quarter. Catchin up on reports
I know it's been a while since I posted so here's what I got. So far this summer, fishing has been on fire in Breton Sound! The big trout have shown back up after a couple years hiatus. Limits of schoolies have been pretty easy in Eloi and the MRGO rocks, but when I have a shot, I take it outside to catch the big fish. Here are a couple of pictures of some trips over the last few weeks.

Great day fishing with a friend
My good friend and hunting buddy David Rathe joined me yesterday afternoon for a quick scout. We fished on the edges of the sound and scraped up a great box of fish. The Wind was blowing pretty good so the water was pretty dirty. I think those fish really wanted to be there because they didn't seem to mind. The action was not fast and furious but more than steady and the fish were really pretty. I think the bite in the sound is about to go off! Campos has live shrimp

Shell Beach Spot Tails
Another great trip with Brian and his friend Bernie from Indiana. The wind was blowing but the water was super high which is perfect conditions to get into the duckponds and catch some beautiful shell Beach spot tails. Both of the guys were great at fishing and started putting fish in the boat immediately at the first stop. Bait was everywhere in the marsh and it's looking like it's going to be a great spring bite.

Trophies not Groceries
Today was a spectacular day fishing with Rich Boehm and his crew. The weather is getting warmer and the pogies are starting to show up out in the sound. As I was driving out this morning I came upon a huge school of redfish busting on pogies and knew from the get-go that today was going to be a great day. My crew had never experienced anything like this. We played with them for about two hours until their arms hurt and they decided to call it quits. After that we loaded the boat with Sheephead and took it to the house. The whole crew called it the experience of a lifetime and new that without the pictures their friends back home would never believe what an incredible day they had. If you've never caught bull Reds until you screamed uncle now is the time to get out and get in on the action. I have a gentleman looking to split a boat on Sunday if anyone is interested.

Trophy Reds
Paul Breaud and his wife Angie joined me for a day of trophy Redfishing out in Breton Sound. Paul fishes with me for a week every October with his Father, Norbit, and his son, Corbin. This was his wife's first time on the boat with me. Angie caught the first fish of the day and the biggest fish of the day. We all had a blast from start to finish and it was great meeting another member of the Breaud family. If you like the idea of catching true trophy size redfish this is the time of year to do it. I still have dates available this spring and I'm already booking for the summer.
