Wounded Warrior Hunt
Our Teal hunting is still going strong on several of our properties. We are not seeing the many, many thousands like the first week of the season, but still plenty for easy limits. We had the pleasure of hosting our annual Wounded Warrior hunt Tuesday night for the Wednesday morning Teal hunt.
Only one of the soldiers had ever been duck hunting, the others had never shot at a duck. After an hour or so of skeet shooting at the lodge Tuesday afternoon they were pretty well dialed in.
For the Wednesday morning hunt, they defended the blind to the tune of 28 Teal - a seven man limit. Not bad for rookies! My group shot four green wings this morning along with 24 blue wings. We saw several flocks of pintail, spoons and the first flock of Greys I’ve seen this year. It was a fun hunt! One of the soldiers mentioned it’s nice to shoot at things that don’t shoot back, kind of makes you think for a minute what they have been through. We enjoyed having them and look forward to next year’s group!

More great Teal hunts!
Our clients are still shooting limits of Teal every day. We did have some birds leave with the cool front on Wednesday but all groups still had great hunts yesterday and this morning. We are rotating our areas and not shooting the same fields each day. This allows our clients to shot Teal throughout the entire season. Of the couple of hundred Teal killed so far, we have only shot two green wings and no bands yet!
We have openings for one group this Saturday and Sunday. We also availability for up to 12 hunters with lodging and meals On September 28, 29, 30.

Fantastic Teal Hunts!
We had 13 hunters Saturday and Sunday mornings all shooting easy limits. Thousands and thousands of birds each morning! This is the most Teal I have seen in at least ten years. We are already seeing a few pintail, spoonbills and yes even two flocks of Specklebelly have been sighted! All the farms were rested this morning.
Our next opening is this Friday the 21rst. The full service lodge is available for 12 hunters with excellent meals and accommodations the evening before. We also have onsite skeet shooting just steps off the back deck. Or if you choose to drive in Friday am for the hunt that’s fine also.
We have room for a three to four man group both Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd.

Just wanted to give a quick report from the rice belt of Southwest Louisiana. We have been out in the field the last several getting our farms ready to hunt. I have not seen Teal like this in at least 10 years! From what we've seen there are large concentrations of Teal around Lake Arthur over to Thornwell and up towards Welsh. It looks like it should be a great Teal season for this area. Good Luck to everyone and have fun!

Our guests have the opportunity to hunt on 3,000 acres of private / prime rice fields in Southwest Louisiana. We kill birds through all 16 days of the season. The Blue wing Teal numbers are at all time record highs, it should be a great season! We have one weekend available; Sept. 29 & 30. We have openings for Specklebelly hunting this weekend for up to six hunters with lodge and meals. We also have openings next weekend; February 4th and 5th for up to twelve hunters. Our rates are $425 per person for the Speck Season, which runs through February 5th.

We have a last minute opening for this Saturday night January 7th to hunt on Sunday the 8th. We have room for a group of nine hunters. The group that was scheduled is unable to come due to last minute work conflicts. This is the only open date we have for the rest of the season. I am offering this at a reduced rate of $425 per person for lodging meals and the guided hunt. This is $100 off our normal rate.

I have not been posting this season because we have literally been too busy and not had any openings! That is a good problem to have. Our hunting has been very consistent for Specklebellies and much better than last year for ducks. We are also killing more snows and blues than last year.

Louisiana Outfitters Waterfowl Hunts
Can there possibly be a better time of year? The trout and redfish are biting like crazy, its football season, and best of all…. It’s almost Duck Season!! Just a little more than two weeks left until we will be shooting Ducks and Specks!

We enjoyed an excellent season last year thanks to lots of Specklebellies, our loyal customers and our hard working staff. For this upcoming season, we only have three weekend dates open in the first split (November 20, 26, 27) along with a few open weekdays. The second split is similar with very few weekend dates open and just a handful of weekdays available.

If you are thinking of scheduling a duck and goose hunt, now is the time to get your group together. For those considering a guided hunt for the first time, we would like a chance to earn your business. We rely heavily on repeat clients and word of mouth. So this is about the only advertising we do.

All of the early indicators point to a very good season, the duck numbers are all up, the goose numbers are also up from last year. If the amount of Specklebellies already here is any indication of the season, it should be great! I have seen more juvenile Specks over the last few weeks than I can remember this early, looks like they had a great hatch.

The Teal are now arriving in good numbers in the rice fields of southwest Louisiana! We were out working on fields/blinds most of this past weekend and saw quit a few Teal on all of our farms.

This cool weather should continue to push more birds down the rest of the week. It sure makes field work alot more fun!

**Just had a group reschedule, so we now have Saturday September 17 open for eight hunters, the Lodge is available the 16th and 17th**

We have a few open dates available for the upcoming Teal season, which will run from September 10th through the 25th. Our fully guided (no walking / no work on your part) Teal Hunts take place on 3,000 prime acres of private rice farms in Jeff Davis, Vermillion and Cameron Parishes in Southwest Louisiana. Our properties hold thousands of Teal from beginning to end of the season. We don’t shoot the same fields every day, by rotating fields, our hunter’s kill birds all season. We rely on these same rotation tactics during our regular duck and goose seasons.

Our hunting lodge is 18 miles east of Lake Charles putting our clients in close proximity to the private hunting properties. We can comfortably accommodate 12 hunters in our lodge. We provide excellent food and service for our guests. Our attentive lodge staff does a great job making you feel at home. Our professional guides strive to make your time afield safe, fun and successful!

These hunts can be combined with catching trout and redfish on Calcasieu Lake in the afternoon, or just relax at the lodge and sharpen your skills at our onsite clay shooting area. Our lodge is just twenty minutes drive from the Lake Charles Casinos.

Another group with full Speck limits before 9:00am from this morning. Saw more ducks today than I have seen in the last two weeks combined… Oh well – less than eight months till Teal season! In the mean time we will concentrate on thinning the Speck heard! We are still killing Specklebellies everyday! Sunday (yesterday) all the groups shot full limits of Specks! It was the last day of duck season, none of the groups shot a duck, but with point blank Specklebelly shooting – who cares about a duck!?! We are using small, realistic spreads of flocked decoys consisting of Specks and a few Lesser Canada’s to work these birds in close to our pit blinds. We will continue to hunt them through next Friday February 4th. We had Fantastic hunts all week! Lots of Specklebellies, with some snows and blues mixed in. We also had some pretty decent duck shooting in a few of the blinds- mainly Mallards and Pintail.
