WhatEver Bites!!! 2-21-15
Barry Batsin with MMR joined us with a crew for his bachelor party. We knew the conditions would be tough with the 30 mph winds. Soaking shrimp on the bottom was the plan to load up the box, then drift the marsh to see if we could catch some reds. Both plans worked, as the guys reeled in fish all morning!!! Once the K2 was pretty full, we hit the ponds and started drifting. With the water so high, we could get anywhere we wanted. Purple Haze Vortex Shad on a gold spinner put a hurt on the reds!! Singles and some double hook ups with some stout pond reds. The guys had a blast and we ended up with right at 120 fish between three boats for the crew. We made a good day out of a bad day!!!rnrnBig thanks to Capt T Miller and Capt T Lovell for running the other two boats, everyone had a great time. rnrnCapt. Magnificent Day Catching 2-11-15
Toby Rich with Whitliejo Specialty was back with me today , Mickey & Herbert Turner, and Kerry LaCoste with Bull Dog Services also joined us. Our first stop only found a few trout, so we didn't stay long. Stop #2 found what we were looking for!! A slow but steady trout bite on Green Hornet Matrix Shad with 1/4 oz jig head. The trout were scattered so drifting worked best. The guys wanted to feel the pull of something stronger, so we left the trout biting. It only took one stop and the guys had the K2 over flowing with fish. Non stop catching on bait shrimp!! The guys loved the fight of the black and red drum and the two lonely Bay Snapper. Perfect conditions and incredible catching today. Always a pleasure fishing with Toby and his crew. Thanks again. rnrnGive me a call to get your trip locked in before it's too late!!rnrnCapt. Dularge Mixed Bag 2-7-14
Jeremy James was back onboard the Bluewave today with Chris & Tanner McGee. Lots of running today to find fish. Plenty reds in the shallows, but we couldn't get to them in our big boats. No problem, just had to change strategies!! We found reds, trout, puppy drum fishing the green hornet matrix shad. A slow retrieve with a twitch was key for the trout. Thanks guys for a great day. rnrnBig thanks to Capt Miller for running the second boat with Steve Orgeron and crew. Everyone had a blast. rnrnrnCapt. Dularge Fishing 1-29-14
Robert and Angela Stalnaker from North Carolina joined me today. This nice couple are down on vacation trying to get in all that South Louisiana has to offer!! It was their first time in the marsh and they were excited to see all the birds, wildlife, and catch some fish. The couple doesn't eat fish, so it was mainly catch n release. We departed at day break to find a strong falling tide and stained water. It wasn't long before Angela was battling a big bronze back! Then a trout hit the deck of the Bluewave, I thought it was going to be on!! We kept drifting without another bite. A short move and we found a couple more specks willing to bite the Green Hornet Matrix Shad. We moved around looking for cleaner water, never really finding what we were looking for. We switched to bait shrimp on the bottom catching several more reds. Once the tide switched we were back in the area we started and found several more trout willing to bite. The bite was slow, so we moved locations fishing four more areas with no luck. The bait shrimp came back out and my crew caught Bay Snapper every-cast. Angela was in heaven fighting the fish cast after cast!! Good time with these guys as they really enjoyed their day. rnrnI heard the afternoon bite in Lake Decade was pretty good but not many fish were caught in the morning. rnrnrnCapt. Reds Galore 1-13-15
Another great day today bashing the reds. After my customers cancelled last minute yesterday, I found one customer that wanted to jump aboard with me on short notice. We caught our limit of reds with no problem, then we went searching for trout. Only one lonely trout was found, but we continued to catch and release reds. The reds are piled up and you can't keep them off your line. Green Hornet Matrix Shad was the bait of choice today rigged on a 1/4 oz Golden Eye jig head or David Custom Tackle jig head. Cold and windy out there but the reds surely don't mind!!rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Redfish Bashing Continues 1-12-15
Petey Kern, Roy Landry, Brian Landry, and JJ 'Cocodrie Kid' Jacobs. We slept in again today and left at 8am. One stop shop again today putting together a limit of reds. We also added two lonely specks to the K2. Purple Haze Vortex and Green Hornet Matrix Shad slowly retrieved continues to get the job done. Great time today fishing with these guys, and I look forward to their return this summer. Thanks again guys, had a blast!!!rnrnrnJust had a last minute cancellation for tomorrow. Reds and More Reds! 1-11-15
David Thibodaux was back onboard the Big Bluewave today with Jake Gray. One stop redfish slam again today as they are stacked up like sardines. Purple Haze Vortex and Green Hornet Matrix Shad rigged on a 1/4 oz Golden eye or David's Custom Tackle jig head is all you need!! Slow retrieve dragging the bottom and wait for the hit. We have been fishing in 3-5 ft depths. The guys quickly filled the K2 with our limit then played catch and release until the had enough. It just doesn't get any better. Always a pleasure and fun time when David's on the boat. Thanks again guys, already looking forward to our next trip!!!rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Reds Are Jumping In The Boat! 1-10-15
Day 2 with Paul & Kerry Ringiewicz and Cory & Rachel Fry was even better than day one!! It was a slow start with no tide movement, but once the tide started moving....BAM!! We could not keep the reds off the line!! Over 100 reds hit the Big Bluewave, keeping our 25 fish cooled down in the K2 cooler. Green Hornet, Shrimp Creole, and Purple Haze Matrix/Vortex Shad lures produced again. 1/4 oz Golden Eye or David's Custom Tackle jig head slowly retrieved. Shrimp under a cork also worked today for those that like to throw that stinky stuff!! A magnificent two days for these guys, as they have never witnessed Red-fishing at this caliber prior to coming down to Dularge and Terrebonne Parish. Thanks guys for two unforgettable days. rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Busting The Reds 1-9-15
Day one with Paul Ringiewicz from Philadelphia and crew was fabulous! We slept in late and did not leave the dock till around 10am. Second cast on arriving on location had a nice bronze back coming over the gunnel of the Big Bluewave. One after another the bronze backs filled up the K2. Matrix and Vortex Shad lures rigged on a 1/4 oz Golden Eye jig head or a David's Custom Tackle jig head did the trick. Slow retrieve dragging the bottom is key when the water temps are in the 40's. It was catch and release until everyone had enough. Thanks guys for a great day. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCosternrn985-856-4477rnrnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Humbling Type Day, the Fish Won 1-2-15
Franco Cardinal and crew joined me on the big Bluewave. We report the good and the bad always, today was horrible! Everything looked good condition wise. Calm winds, clean water, and a good tide. Stop after stop after stop we kept coming up with no bites. We didn't skunk, but with as few fish as we caught covering 140 miles of water burning 35 gallons of gas it felt like it. I can't explain what happened today, but it was unheard of in all of my days on the water. I was humbled today, these kind of days sure make you appreciate all the good days!! I spoke with many other people fishing Dularge to Cocodrie today, who experienced the same results. Thanks guys for sticking it out with me, we worked hard. rnrnRound two with the guys bow fishing also was tough unfortunately. We were at high tide all night almost a + 2ft tide, which makes it difficult to see the fish. We covered a huge area never finding crystal clear water. Even though we saw over 30 reds and shot at them, none were stuck. The reds are safe for now. Good times with these guys and definitely looking forward to things getting back to normal. rnrnCapt. Cold and Windy Trout 12-31-14
Scott Ducote and his son joined me on the Big Bluewave. We knew the odds were stacked against us but Scott is moving to Houston and this was his last chance to fish. Our second stop found a slow bite, but steady. All the trout were nice and did not have to be measured. A real nice bass hit the K2 also. No big numbers, but ended up with a gallon of fillets!! Green Hornet tight-lined slowly on a 1/4 Golden Eye jig head or a David Custom Tackle jig head did the trick. We soaked some shrimp for a while trying to catch some reds before the guys gave into the cold and threw in the towel. We headed in and cleaned fish and warmed up. Thanks guys, I enjoyed the morning. rnrnThanks Capt DuPont for setting up the trip. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting

Ducks Down!! 12-30-14
Jordan Parnell, James Brown, and Chris Peters jumped onto the Gator Tail ready to shoot some ducks. Arriving in our pond, we found no water (thank goodness the Gator Tail doesn't need water to get the job done)!!! Out went the decoys in the mud, and we got set up in the blind. It didn't take long for the first few ducks to hit the mud, LOL!! We had groups of 2-3 birds fly in all morning. Once the tide started coming back in and the pond filled in with water, groups of 10-12 birds started coming in. The guys shot all morning blasting the ducks. Just a fantastic morning to be hunting. We are shooting mostly green winged teal and grey ducks. Great group of guys, as we had a great time. Thanks again guys. rnrnYou were right Ramsey 'Fliesitdies/Duck Whisperer', them birds are plentiful down in Dularge. LOLrnrnFishing, bow fishing, duck hunting, lodging, we have you covered. Give me a call to get your trip on the books. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCosternrn985-856-4477rnrnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

A Lil Better Bite 12-28-14
Dick Blaise was back onboard the big Bluewave today. His good friend Charles Alexander from North Carolina also joined us. Our first stop had trout coming in the boat every cast on Matrix Shad under a cork (color didn't matter). The only problem was all the fish were 10-11 inches. Out of 60 plus fish 8 made the K2. It was fun catching, but you can't eat the small ones!!! Our second stop found what we were looking for (keepers). Green Hornet Matrix Shad tight-lined slowly with a twitch in 6-8 foot depths did the trick. Once the trout bite played out, plan B went into affect. Our first stop found rat reds and undersized drum every-cast. Crazy, second time of the day we are catching every cast but all fish are too small. After catching 30 fish minimum and only adding three fish to the K2, we were on the move!!! Several more stops adding 1-3 fish per stop then we called it a day. Our end result was much better than Fridays trip, but still not up to par on what it's supposed to be. We really need some cold weather!! Not a bad day overall catching as we had close to 150 fish hit the deck of the Bluewave, just plenty small fish out there. Tight lines everyone and be safe out there. rnrnrnCapt. Tough Fishing 12-26-14
Ethan Koobs and his FiancÚ Kim jumped on the big Bluewave with me. We departed at 7:45am as Ethan worked the night before (he's a die hard fisherman!!). We started in the lake over reefs finding schools of small fish 10-11 inches with only a few keeper trout mixed in. Moving into the bayous we found keeper trout, but not enough to even talk about. All of our trout and one red were caught tight lining the Green Hornet Matrix Shad. After fishing numerous locations where the trout 'should be' and finding nothing....plan B went into affect. Bottom fishing with shrimp. It didn't take long and Kim's rod was bent. Puppy drum, Bay Snapper, and a nice redfish greeted the K2. Tough out there as no one I spoke to caught many fish. Not sure what's going on, but hopefully we can get a good cold snap and get the fish bunched back up again. Good luck out there and be safe. Thanks guys for the great company, and thanks to Capt Miller for setting up the trip. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Another Full Mixed Box 12-22-14
Coach Greg Briggs and Coach Fuzzy Kemp from Live Oak High School joined me today. Our first two spots found a on and off trout bite with a few reds mixed in. Every time it looked as if the bite was getting hot, it went cold!! We worked over the reefs finding fish at every stop, but it seems the fish are still scattered about. We switched gears to soaking a few shrimp to top off the trout and reds. We added more reds, puppy drum, bay snapper and a flounder. Plenty undersized fish in the lake as we released quite a few. Tightlining the Ultra Violet and Shrimp Creole Matrix Shad on 1/4 Golden Eye and David's Custom Tackle Jig heads slowly was key for the trout. Thanks guys for another great trip. rnrnThanks Capt Miller for running the second boat with David Smiths crew. rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com
