More Trout 7-31-14
Billy Gray and his family jumped onboard the big Bluewave with me. We departed the Reel Inn in the dark headed South for trout! We were greeted with perfect conditions weather wise, but very little tide movement. Arriving on location I thought we would murder the fish like yesterday.....not!! It was pick pick pick pick. With just six fish iced down in the K2 at 7:30 I had to make a move. Stick and move just picking away on the fish. We never got on a decent bite till our last stop!! It was like someone had finally turned the trout bite switch on. All of our fish today were caught on double rigged avocado Matrix and Purple Haze Vortex shad. Super slow retrieve with a twitch. Thanks guys, I enjoyed fishing with you. rnrnBig thanks to Capt R Dupont for running the second boat today. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

7-30-14 Fast n Furious Trout Slam
Scott Deshotel with Vesco Rental and Billy Broussard were back on the Big Bluewave today. Trout is what the guys wanted and trout is what they got!! We picked away at the fish at our first couple spots. Our third stop is where we found the motherload!! The trout were Stacked and hungry for our double rigged avocado Matrix and purple Haze Vortex Shad. We had the fish coming in 3-6 at a time every cast, easy as it gets! We left the fish biting at 10am and were North bound. Great time as always with these guys, thanks. Slow steady retrieve is how the fish wanted the baits presented. rnrnrnrnCapt. Reds and More Reds 7-28-14
Day 2 with James, David, and Kera Wheeler had us targeting reds. As soon as the Big Bluewave stopped and the PowerPole was deployed...BAM, It was red fish on!! Gold spoons was the ticket today. We doubled up quickly, then several singles hit the spoons. We put 7 reds in the K2 in less than 20 minutes (by 7am), then the switch turned off. It was stick and move the rest of the day picking at 1-2 reds per stop. Unreal how the bite just shuts off in the blink of an eye. Reds everywhere swimming around, following and bumping the baits but refuse to eat. We tried shrimp under and cork and shrimp Carolina rigged without a bite (not even a hard head!!). Persistence is key when the fish do this. We never gave up and grinded them out. We also tried for bass, but only found two willing to bite. Every red was caught on gold spoons and the couple bass hit watermelon baby brush hogs. Thanks James I enjoyed the two days fishing with y'all. rnrnrnCapt. Farewell Picketts
Farewell to the fishing grounds that have produced so many fish for all that frequented this incredible area. I sure hope the artificial reefs that are being talked about, really happen. I will believe it when I see it.

Tough Trout & Reds 7-27-14
James Wheeler was back onboard the big Bluewave today with his Son and daughter in law. We knew the trout bite was slow in the morning, but we had to give it a try (gotta go to know). Stained water and a ripping current at our first two stops produced a goose egg. We found better water at our third stop and the current wasn't running 20mph!!!! Second cast produced a big fat trout!! We reeled in 3-4 in a row, then James doubled up on 18-20 inch trout, David hooked one and Kerra did too. It looked like we had found what we were looking for. After reeling in a few more, the bite was over in the blink of an eye. We tried another location with no luck, then headed North for reds. My first cast at our first location had a big hefty bronze back crush the gold spoon (yea it's ON!!).........Not!! We had five more bump the baits not taking them. After drifting every single location we have been crushing them with no luck, we switched to bait shrimp. The puppy drum were thick but only one other red was to be had. Tough day, as I think this was the first time in 4-5 years James fishes with me and we do not limit out!! Day 2 tomorrow, hopefully we can change up our luck!! Avocado Matrix, and Purple Haze Vortex Shad produced all of our trout today. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Redfish Slam 7-26-14
The Reel Inn Dularge was rocking last night, as the guys with INOLECT partied it up!! The guys got the party going after Chef Shawn P grilled up some steaks and his special mashed potatoes!! Today had us back in the marsh, as my Florida guys only wanted reds again!! We got off to a quick start with four nice reds meeting their maker into the K2. Gold spoons, Purple Haze Vortex Shad, and green hornet on gold spinners worked them over. Once our bite slowed I moved into a shallow ditch and found a little school piled up. We switched to shrimp under a cork and the guys put on a clinic once the Power Pole was deployed. Nice reds and a few smaller puppy drum were hitting the bait shrimp every cast. Lots of excitement and fun, as my guys loaded up the K2. Another successful trip in the books, great time guys. rnrnBig thanks to Capt's T Miller, A Julien, and L Barr for running the other boats. Everyone caught and had a great time. Special thanks to Shawn P for doing his thing with the food, everyone enjoyed everything. rnrnrnCapt. Dularge Reds 7-25-14
My INOLECT crew came into the Reel Inn Thursday night. Chef Shawn P cooked up his famous crawfish etoufee. Food/drinks and good times by all. We woke up and had breakfast then headed out after day break. My crew from Florida wanted reds, we arrived on location where I left themrnBiting every cast yesterday, thinking it would be a easy repeat.....NOT. The reds were there and stacked, but would not eat. They would follow the baits and bump them all the way to the boat, but refused to take the hook. We had a handful make a mistake and actually bite, but I lost count of the fish that hit and did not bite. Unreal how the difference a day makes. Each boat put a mess together and everyone had a great time, so the trip was still a success!! Happy customers is all that counts!!rnrnThanks to Capt's T Miller, A Julien, and L Barr for running the other boats showing everyone a good time. rnrnCapt. Redfish Bonanza 7-24-14
It was good having Kenny Siears back onboard today. Kade Siears and David Stafford also joined us. We found the reds stacked up at our first stop. We had multiple double hook ups. Once our limit was iced down in the K2, the guys played catch and release. We headed South after the guys had enough to go look for trout. The trout did not cooperate like the reds did, but we managed to pick away at a few before calling it quits. All reds were caught tight lining gold spoons and Purple Haze Vortex Shad on a gold spinner. Our trout were caught tight lining double rigged Avocado Matrix Shad and Purple Haze Vortex Shad. Good times, thanks again guys. rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Trout and Bull reds 7-22-14
Day 2 with ESI had us waiting for a storm to pass before we could head out. We had three boats trout fishing and one boat that targeted reds. We were greeted with choppy seas and stained water. Second cast had a nice trout breaking the ice in the K2, then not another bite. We started moving around and found a slow bite. We had quality trout coming on our double rigged avocado Matrix Shad and purple haze Vortex Shad. A slow retrieve with a twitch was key. When our bite shut down, we were on the move again. We rode up on a school of bull reds busting on pogies, and the guys hooked up quickly. We played with the bulls for a while then called it a day. Good times by all, thanks Robert. rnrnBig thanks to Capt's T Miller, C Venable, and R Dupont for taking care of the other customers. The crew had a incredible time and can't wait to come back. Special thanks to Chef Rickie, everyone raved about every meal. rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Double Time Reds & Trout 7-21-14
ESI arrived at The Reel Inn Dularge Sunday night and were treated to a boiled seafood dinner prepared by Chef Rickie Daigle. After breakfast we had four boats head out in search of the bronze backs. All boats found a slower than usual bite, but still managed a box mixed with reds, puppy drum, bass, and a few lost trout. We made it back for a weigh in of a five fish red stringer, cleaned fish, ate lunch, rested up.....then we departed around 2pm on round two!!! Round two had us in search of the yellow mouths. No one was disappointed, as they were stacked up and waiting for us. All four boats got on the fish and crushed them. The fish were in a feeding frenzy feeding on shrimp and we had them jumping into the Bluewave everycast. We used the new Vortex Shad double rigged in BlazinHornet, Purplehaze, and Shrimpcocktail. The new baits are bad and the fish love them. Thanks guys for a incredible day. rnrnBig thanks to Capt's T Miller, C Venable, and R Dupont for working hard to put the customers on the fish. Job well done guys. rnrnAlso thanks to Capt O Rodrigue for taking care of part of the crew on a bow fishing trip. We have it all Down in Dularge and can accommodate all your needs. rnrnrnCapt. Mixed Rainy Box 7-20-14
After cancelling all of our boats the last two days due to weather, we thought today's forecast looked better. Lance Trotti and family were back with me today on the Big Bluewave. We were delayed at the lodge due to storms. Once things cleared out we were on our way. Our first stop found a few reds and puppy drum. Our second stop had us reeling in a few bass. The tide was almost at a stand still and had the fish not feeding. We moved around not finding much then the sky fell on us. We took shelter then ran back to the lodge to clean fish. Thanks guys and Happy Birthday Lance!rnrnBig thanks to Capt's T Miller and R Dupont for running the other two boats with Sonny Lovells crew. rnrnrnCapt. Yellow Mouth Fever 7-17-14
Allen Moore with Wells Fargo Financial brought in a group to Reel Inn Dularge Wednesday evening. Chef Shawn P cooked them up a great dinner, and everyone went to bed happy. We departed just before daybreak and found the big yellow mouths waiting on us!!! It was every cast on the double rigged Matrix Shad, as everyone was slinging in the big trout 18-21 inches 1-2 at a time. Avocado, Green Hornet, and Lemon Head seemed to work best today. The fish were on the surface in a feeding frenzy. They would hit the baits immediately or after drifting a short distance. The K2 was filling up nicely, then all of a sudden it happened. In the blink of an eye it was over, they went cold turkey on us. We started moving around only pecking away at them the rest of the morning. We called it a day around noon to head in and clean fish. Thanks guys for a great trip and I look forward to the next trip. rnrnBig thanks to Capt Rob DuPont for running the second boat with the other half of the crew. rnrnrnCapt. Dularge Bass Slam 7-15-14
Day two with John Dongieux, his wife, and my son joined us. The Gulf was full of storms this morning, so plan B it was. Our first stop had us at the redfish hole, but no reds willing to bite. Straight to the Bass hole the Bluewave went!! As soon as the Power Pole was deployed it was 'Bass On'!!! Five bass hit the K2 and another 5 -10 were lucky to see another day. We moved less than ten yards and were up to 15 bass. This kept up and we had our 40 bass limit iced down with no problem. 4 redfish decided to jump into the K2 also. Brush hogs were the bait of choice today for the bass. We tried a couple other locations for reds, then it started to drizzle. My crew said 'let's hit the dock', no problem. We made it back to the dock, and cleaned fish. Thanks for two great days of fishing, and I look forward to your return. rnrnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Fast And Furious Trout Bite 7-14-14
John Dongieux and his wife joined me today from Mississippi. We were greeted with calm seas and clean water. With only five fish iced down in the K2, a storm kicked up. We had to make a decision on where to run! Turns out we made the right call. Seas kicked up and got ugly but we skirted around the storm. After arriving at our location, John caught a trout. It was game on afterwards!!! The fish went into a frenzy and we started catching them two at a time every cast. Double rigged Matrix Shad in every color we threw worked. Some of the fish hit as soon as the baits hit the water, while others hit within seconds of drifting. When the dust settled at 8:50 the K2 was stuffed. We left the fish biting to look for reds. Arriving at the red honey hole, the conditions were perfect. We had two reds jump into the K2 on back to back cast, we thought it was on. Not so, as that was all to be had. Got a call from Capt Anthony Kyzar (thanks) saying he was on a hot bite. We ran over to him, but missed the bite. We tried one more area then called it quits. Today\'s trout bite was probably the best bite I\'ve seen this summer!! Thanks again John. rnrnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Back on the Silver 7-13-14
Erik Burns and his sons joined me today. The morning started out a lil windy with choppy seas and a ripping current. We got set up and started chipping away at the trout. Double rigged avocado and green hornet Matrix Shad worked their magic as they do everyday in Dularge. With the current so strong we used 3/8 ounce jig heads to get the baits down to the fish. Letting the baits drift with a twitch worked best to produce strikes. With 20 fish iced down in the K2 it was time to move. Our next location found the winds and seas calming down and shrimp jumping. We got on a good run catching fish just about everycast. The boys loved it and kept saying how they had never caught so many fish ever before. Thanks guys for a great day. rnrnBig thanks to Capt A Julien for running the second boat and putting his crew on reds, puppy drum and flounder. OrnrnCapt.
