Trout and Redfish SLAM
Mike Baumann and James from Kerrville Texas were back with me today. Our morning started off by getting stopped, boarded, and checked by Coast Guard. The guys were very professional and friendly, once the inspection was complete we were on our way to catch trout. We found a good flock of birds working and the double rigged Matrix Shad went to work. It was fish on every cast! Most were coming in two at a time. We made quick work of putting our limit into the K2, then headed to the redfish honey hole. We dropped two crabs down and had two hook ups. This started it up as the reds were stacked and hungry. My guys caught reds every cast till about 10:30 when the tide quit. Incredible day for these guys as they had the time of their life. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Dularge Trout Slam
Bill Van Roekel from Missouri got to enjoy a Dularge Trout slam, then reel in a few bronze backs. The trout are finally starting to show up in better numbers. Our first stop found birds and shrimp running for their lives. It was fish on until a $&@&$ driving a oyster boat drove directly through the 200 plus birds diving. We moved on and found another school and once again had them coming into the boat every-cast. Our third move and same thing! Catching every cast and a crabber motors right through the birds and shuts us down. Got to love it. One more stop and fish on again!! We threw double rigged Matrix Shad in any color, it didn't matter. 9:30 we moved to the redfish honey hole to find a slow falling tide. Bill hooked one nice red and nothing else wanted to bite. We made a few more moves fishing crabs with no luck except a big nasty drum. We hit the shallows with spoons with no luck, then back to check the honey hole one more time. This time we had six quick hook ups back to back, then we took it to the dock. Great day and fishing with Bill, and I look forward to his return. rnrnCapt. Great Family Fun
David Osburn and family from Texas jumped on the Bluewave with me. We slept in and left a lil later this day. We were headed to redfish when we came across shrimp jumping and birds diving. I just had to stop!!! Lol. Corks and tightlined rigs were deployed and it was trout after trout coming into the boat on Matrix Shad lures (color did not matter). Lots of throw backs but plenty nice keepers also. The bite was abruptly shut down when two boats passed closely by us. Onto the redfish hole we went and the sky decides to fall!! We took shelter for a good hour before moving on. We found a extremely slow falling tide and dropped down our crabs. In no time young Spencer was hooked up and his drag was screaming. This would be his first redfish and biggest one of the day. What a memory made for him! We had steady hook ups until the sky dropped and the winds started blowing 25 mph. Great time with this family making memories, I look forward to their return. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Completely Insane Redfish Bite
Shane Duplantis and the REXEL crew were back at the lodge with us. We had a great night and shane cooked up his famous shrimp stew and tator salad. Our morning of fishing started off extremely slow as the day before. Zero reds on crab so we moved to the shallows. We found one red to bite. Soaked crabs in another location and caught one more fish. On to the shallows again and one more red and bass hit the box. It was looking grim! Four fish in the box at 11:30. We made one more stop and found a pot of GOLD!! The motherload of hungry reds eating everything in sight. It was every cast as fast as the crabs hit the bottom. Double, triple, quadruple hook ups. We went from having 3 reds to our limit of 20 in 20 minutes. Complete insane action, it was exactly what we needed! The slow fishing prior was completely forgotten!! LOL Thanks again guys for a incredible day. rnrnBig thanks to Capt A Kyzar and Capt E Rodrigue for running the other two boats and showing the guys a great time. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.comrnfacebook.com/absolutefishingchartersLLCrnhttps://Instagram.com/capt_marty_lacoste

Fished Hard Plan A - D
Had a four man bachelor party group, the plan was to hit the reds in the shallows then look for trout. We fished prime redfish area with beautiful water only to find one red. Hit a couple points with shrimp...zero. Plan B we hit the lake and coast for trout. First stop produced a handful of keepers, second stop as soon as we threw out the corks were going down then nothing, third stop had a slow steady bite with keepers coming in the boat. The bite fizzled out so plan C went into affect. We hit the pass and dropped crabs and the drags started singing. The bachelor hooked into a monster that was peeling drag!! The big black drum was huge when it surfaced...it weighed 52 pounds, biggest drum that I've ever seen or caught out of my boat. We added a puppy drum and smaller bull red. All the bigger drum were released. Plan D next fishing for bass!! Only one taker bass and we put another red in the box also. Slow bite for the most part and a long day and many miles covered doing everything possible to put these guys on fish. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Day 2&3 With the Missouri Crew
Day two with the Missouri guys and we were trying the deep holes once again. Only two takers on crab, so back to the shallows we went. Four hook ups in the first five minutes, so it was spoons and spinner baits the rest of the day!! Plenty fish hooked and plenty fish spitting hooks back at us! We kept a decent mess, but had double the amount SPIT the hook. rnrnDay three was almost a bust, as everywhere we went the reds eluded us. We drifted miles and miles of bank to only catch 6 reds with one being a keeper. The fish won on this day!! Even though it was extremely tough, the guys got to see a ton of area and sights and enjoyed themselves....it is called 'fishing' not 'catching'!!! Thanks to Capt T for setting things up. rnrnCapt. Redfishing Continues
Day one with a big group from Missouri had us soaking crabs at our first location. Only two reds decided to eat, so it was off to the shallows. In no time we hooked into six fish! We spent the rest of the day throwing spoons and spinner baits hooking into fish. My guys really enjoyed the fight the bronze backs gave them, good times. Thanks Capt T for setting up the trip. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

More Shallow Water Reds
No rain to delay us today, we were on location nice a early. Unfortunately the reds had other plans. We found three nice reds our first drift with artificials. Made a few moves finding one red on cracked crab. After the tide switch we moved back to the shallows and found the reds more active. We had a few double hooks up and some singles. The guys enjoyed the drag pulling and action in the shallows. Thanks Capt T for hooking up the trip. rnrnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Shallow water reds
We had a late start due to the rain. As soon as the spoons and spinner baits hit the water we were hooked up. The reds were a bit finicky as we had a bunch of them follow the bait bumping it but not eating. We still steadily hooked into fish throughout the day. Fun times with these guys as we even got to sight cast a few fish in the shallows. rnrnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.comrnfacebook.com/absolutefishingchartersLLCrnhttps://Instagram.com/capt_marty_lacoste

Spoon Fed Reds!
We found the reds piled up again in the shallows eating up our gold spoons and spinner baits with green hornet Matrix Shad. Everyone in the boat hooked multiple fish as we were hooking into 3-4 fish every 10 yards we moved the boat. Good times and more happy customers. A couple of the guys had never fished before, I'd say they are hooked!!rnrnrnCapt. Reds and Specks
No tide movement all morning made for a slow redfish bite. We picked away at them being patient till 10 am then decided to switch gears to trout. My second stop had us reeling in trout just about every single cast. Shrimp Creole Matrix shad under a cork was irresistible!! Plenty throw backs in the mix but crazy action as the corks were going down every cast. Good times and we put together a nice pile of fillets. rnrnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Insane Redfish Bite
We found the reds stacked up and hungry. This day we used cracked crab Carolina rigged in 10 ft of water. Incoming and falling tide both had the fish in a frenzy. Bent rods and screaming reels made for big smiles and happy customers. rnrnrnDay two with the same group found a much slower bite. We made several moves fishing crab and artificials in the shallows and never found that fast and furious bite. No limits on this day but still a good mess of fish and happy customers!rnrnCapt Marty LaCosternrn985-856-4477rnrnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Easy Redfish Limits
Fast and furious redfish action today, as the Reds were stacked up thick. We had our limit of reds iced down at 8:15 and left them biting. Gold spoons worked best as the grass is really thick. We scouted the rest of the day and headed in at 11. Good times with my crew as they said it was the best red fish bite they have ever experienced. rnrnCapt. Slot Reds and Bulls
Mike Horstmeyer and family joined me today. We started the morning off catching slot reds. The bite started off slow, but once the tide switched the action heated up. We fished cracked crab and gold spoons. We ended the day fishing for Bulls with cracked crab. The bull drum were stacked up thick, and my crew wore their arms out reeling in them. Good times, thanks again. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Battling the Bulls
Paul Eastin and family were back onboard with me. We started out the morning soaking crabs and battling the Bulls. Double and triple hook ups all morning with bent poles and screaming drags. Big smiles on everyone faces! When things slowed down a bit, we moved into the marsh throwing gold spoons. Slow action, as we only found a few willing to bite. One more stop fishing with crabs catching a few more fish before heading in to beat the approaching storms. Good times as always and I look forward to their return. rnrnrnCapt.
