Specks and Reds 5-5-16
Day 2 with Joe Simpson and his daughter was another success. We started the morning off fishing for trout with double rigged Matrix Shad. The bite was slow, but we picked away at them. Around 9 we moved to the shallow waters and started throwing the Vortex Shad. The water was so clean we could see the reds when they would hit the baits. It was a gorgeous day to be on the water. Thanks guys for two great days and I look forward to your return. rnrnrnCapt. Father/Daughter Quality Time 5-4-16
Joe Simpson was back with me today with his daughter. Today was all about father/daughter quality time. High North winds had us limited on where we could fish. My goal was to get them on some specks and bull reds, mission accomplished. We found some birds diving on shrimp and had trout coming in 1-2 at a time for a short while. The schools were moving fast, so it was important to make as many casts as you could quickly. Once the trout bite slowed down, we made a move and dropped some crabs down. We had several take downs and hook ups. My crew loved the fight of the bulls and were so excited. It was a pleasure fishing together and seeing the excitement they shared reeling in fish. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Bulls in the 30 mph winds 4-30
30 mph plus winds yesterday had us Bull red fishing, conditions were brutal. The bite was kinda slow but my crew enjoyed being on the water regardless. The fish we caught were a bonus and they couldn't thank me enough for having such a good time. Crab on the bottom Carolina rigged and patience!! We tried one spot in the marsh for trout before getting run in by approaching storms. Thanks Capt Rob for setting up the trip. rnrnRescheduled today's trip which was a good call!! More bad weather coming. When will this bad weather leave us alone?rnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Brutal winds and Trout 4-29
Jacob Richard and crew joined me today. Brutal windy conditions made it tough. It looked as if we were going to get on them at our first stop, but the bite was short lived. It was stick and move the rest of the day. We worked hard and covered some water not finding any fish to cooperate. Got a call from Capt Josh that he was on a few fish, so we made a quick move and started catching too (thanks Capt Josh). It's nice to work with the BEST Capt's in Dularge. Half of our fish came on Matrix Shad and half came on live shrimp. We didn't get near as many as we had yesterday, but we had fun catching what we did. Also caught some crazy looking puff fish that I've never seen before in my life. Thanks guys for the continued business. rnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Hammer-Time Trout Catching 4-28
What a incredible day despite the forecast this morning. I helped Capt Josh with a three boat charter today. We really didn't know what to expect, but our crew smashed the trout!! No sooner than we pulled up and I dropped the Motorguide Xi5, we were Hooked up. It was fish on one after another on Matrix Shad double rigs. 1-2 at a time were coming into the big Bluewave. Big smiles on everyone's faces and mine!! The fish wanted the baits super slow off the bottom with a twitch. Once this bite ended we had right at 70 fish. Two more moves and we were back on some more real solid fish. Live shrimp under a cork and plastic had them coming in. What a great day with great company, thanks guys. rnrnThanks Capt Josh for setting up this group. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.comrnfacebook.com/absolutefishingchartersLLCrnhttps://Instagram.com/capt_marty_lacoste

Dularge Trout 4-26
New customer Emile Leblanc and his wife Melinda joined me today. The bite has been hot the last few days. Wind picked back up, but the water was still pretty green. We started catching as soon as we pulled up at our first stop!! We thought it was on, but the bite didn't last long. After a couple moves we started catching again. The fish were real finicky and would bite in spurts. Majority of all our fish were caught on Matrix Shad with the Crappie Psychic Trout trailers. I picked up some live minnows as a back up plan but only caught 2-3 fish on them as usual!! We worked hard, and were rewarded with some decent fish. No limits but nice quality fish. Customers went home with two stuffed gallon ziplocks of fillets. Thanks guys. rnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Perfect Weather equals Trout Explosion 4-24
Bryan Ritzheimer and crew were back with me today. It was the day we have all been waiting for. Slick calm seas and clean green water, I knew it was going to be on. We picked up some live shrimp as a back up plan and of course didn't need it!! We got on a early bite at our first stop putting 31 fish on ice. Our second stop found the motherload! The fish were feeding aggressive and hit our double rigged Matrix Shad as soon as they hit the water. The bite was short lived as we jumped to 58 fish and the bite quit. Another short move and we had 70 fish before 9 am. This bite was slow and the other Capt's in our team was on a hot bite not far away. One more stop and finished off the limit. We fished mainly Ultra violet, shrimp Creole, and Limbo slice colors with a slow retrieve in 2 - 10 ft depths. Out of our 100 trout we may have caught 8-10 on live shrimp. We tried the shrimp at every stop with no luck. Matrix was the ticket as usual. Thanks guys for the continued business and another great day for the books. rnrnCapt. Should have picked Heads on Coin toss! 4-23
Day two with our a North Louisiana crew had us leaving the lodge early. We arrived on location before the sun came up. North East wind was still blowing snd had the water choppy and dirty. Found a slow bite at our first couple stops using live shrimp and decided to flip a coin!! Stay and wait or head to where we caught yesterday. We took off and ran to where we caught yesterday to find the fish with lock jaw. Gorgeous water like yesterday but the fish didn't want anything to do with our Matrix Shad nor live shrimp we had. Move after move found 1-3 fish or no fish. Luck of the draw and today we fished hard. Good reports from the guys that stayed patient and waited it out after the water cleared up. All in all we had two good days and all the customers were happy. Thanks Capt T Miller for setting up the trip. rnrnrnCapt. Great Day Catching Trout 4-22
We had 9 boats fishing out of the Reel Inn this morning. I was helping Capt T out with a five boat group. We departed out the lodge at day break in no rush at all! We got on a decent bite at our first stop, then our bite came to a halt. After a short move we got on a fast and furious bite. The big trout were feeding on shrimp and smashing our double rigged Matrix Shad with Crappie Trout Trailers like there was no tomorrow! The K2 filled up nicely with 15-18 inch trout. Once this bite slowed we made a couple more moves adding fish at every stop. At 12:30 we called it quits with a very respectable box. Thanks guys for a great day, thanks Capt T for setting everything up. rnrnBig thanks to Capt K Labat for taking care of R Russo and crew. rnrnCapt. Great to See Silver 4-15
MMR had a big crew in town from Colorado that joined us on Friday. We knew the winds would be blowing, but we had to see what we could find. We started off over a reef in a protected area putting a few nice 16-18 inch trout on ice. We then saw some birds working some shrimp and that's when the fun began!! Double rigged and single rigged Matrix Shad went to work. The schools of fish moved fast and we would only catch 1-3 fish. We finally hit a good school that didn't move on us and started putting a good mess of fish together in the 25mph winds. I was surprised to find some really nice 16-17 inch fish under the birds. Once we had a really nice box of trout I wanted them to experience reeling in some big fish. We dropped some crabs and waited. The tide was hauling in fast and the lines were stretched out quick even with a 3 ounce weight. Finally we had a good take down and boated a big ole Big Nasty!!! Arms were tired and customers were amazed how big it was! We made a move to check another spot and hooked two boating a huge Bull red. Fun times with great people. Thanks for the continued business guys, always a pleasure. rnrnCancelled all boats today with the 30mph wind forecast. Hopefully Mother Nature will give us a break soon, so we can get back to normal business!rnrnBig thanks to Capt K Labat for running the second boat showing his crew a great time. rnrnCapt Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.comrnfacebook.com/absolutefishingchartersLLCrnhttps://Instagram.com/capt_marty_lacoste

Bull Reds 4-9
I rescheduled my trout trip for Saturday knowing how the bite has been the last two days. I had a second group scheduled with some guys from Florida and they were ok with fishing for bull reds. We slept in late and left at 7:30. I got a call from a fellow Capt that they were catching a few trout, so we decided to check things out. No trout were to be found but a real nice flounder hit a Matrix Shad. After trying a few places for trout with no luck, we focused on bull reds. Not a bite at our first two stops. Our third stop finally produced for us. A couple good take downs and hookups and my guys were excited. Thanks guys for a fun day and great company. rnrnI rescheduled Sunday and Monday trips as it's just not worth going right now. I haven't seen the bite this bad in quite some time. Hopefully near the end of the week we can get back to catching. rnrnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Tough As it Gets in Lower Du
Tom Evins and crew joined me April 8th. We started in the lakes and found no bird activity. Moved to some reefs and points and found zero fish. We tried the mouths of a couple bayous draining out and found one undersized fish. We moved into the marsh and threw plastic and bait shrimp and only caught a red and a few trout. After hours of fishing through prime area we moved back into the bayous and fished points with bait shrimp. No luck as the fish won and we were defeated. Something has our bite turned off big time in lower Du. Good reports coming from Cocodrie, as the bite has been on over there fishing live shrimp. Thanks guys for sticking it out as we worked our butts off and didn't have much to show. rnrnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Slow Start and fast Finish 4-7
April 7th Mike Mladenik from Wisconsin was back onboard with me. We found a extremely slow bite and covered a lot of water. We found some pretty water, but the fish refused to bite. Our last stop found us reeling in trout every-cast for 45 minutes straight. Most of the fish were undersized so we didn't get to keep many, but it was fun reeling them in. Thanks Mike for the continued business. rnrn985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.com

Never laughed so much while catching Trout 4/4
Good time today with good friends fishing for fun. I jumped onboard one of my good friend/customers boat for a fun filled scouting mission. Capt T Mil and Capt K Labat joined us on this mission. We departed from the Reel Inn at day break. Our first stop found one lonely Fish willing to sacrifice itself!!! We knew the water would be dirty but still wanted to see what would happen and defy the odds. Our next stop found a school of trout eating up our Matrix Shad and Crappie Psychic Trout Trailers! Once this bite slowed down, we kept on the move. We picked away at every stop, then got on another good little streak at another spot in 3-5 ft of water. Tigjtlining and under a cork with Matrix Shad single or double rigged produced fish. We decided our mission was complete around 1 pm and headed to the dock. We could of caught plenty more fish then we did, but it was all about having fun and no stress!!! Thanks guys for such a great day, it's been a while since I laughed so much!rnrnCapt. Dularge Trout Fishing 4-3-16
George Horton and family joined me today on the Bluewave. We found the lake alive with shrimp jumping and birds flying everywhere in sight!! Plenty boats too!! Most of the flocks all had small fish under 12 inches. Our third stop found about ten keeper fish. We moved to a reef and boxed another 15. Made a drift picking away and got up to 30 plus fish when the bite and all bird activity came to a halt. We made a run to another location and found beautiful water, first cast produced a keeper! Drifted a good 100 yards only picking up a couple more fish. Another move found a couple more then we switched to plan B. Shrimp under a cork went out and two lines went down within 20 seconds. We thought it was game on, but only one other fish was to be had. Multiple other stops on points and reefs found zero fish. At 1 pm we headed to the dock with over forty fish. Incredible day considering no one I spoke to had over 20 fish. Matrix Shad double rigged, single rigged and under a cork with Crappie Psychic Trout Trailers did the trick on the trout. Thanks guys for a great time on the water. rnrnCapt. Marty LaCostern985-856-4477rnwww.absolutefishingcharters.comrnfacebook.com/absolutefishingchartersLLCrnhttps://Instagram.com/capt_marty_lacoste
