Man...we need a bear season. From my experience the last couple of years, there have been really healthy breeding conditions and now they are everywhere. It wasn't so bad when they would just pass through and get a picture here and there, but now they are messing with stands and tore up a $180 trail camera. This (an experimental season/lottery season) would not only help to control the population, but would also add tons of $$$$ to the LDWF. Just a thought

A comment titled: state in response to a report titled: What you think!

This is still not a state problem though. There will be loopholes around any rule changes if hunters want more deer. I know people right now that buy their wife and/or kids licenses to get extra tags. I don't do it, and I don't agree with it, but it happens. You can cut numbers and tags down all you want. If people want to kill deer, there is a way around that. Deer sightings have been down statewide for a variety of reasons, but I don't believe that the limit or center-fire primitive weapons season is the reason. They can move the limit to 100 deer per year...if you only take 2 and pass on 98, then your land will be ok. I have seen less deer this year on my place, but it is because we had a super acorn crop this year. And I know that because I have put in the extra time and effort with cameras and scouting to figure it out. My deer have to do very little moving to bed and eat right now which will result in fewer sightings. When the acorns are gone, movement will increase dramatically in January.

I have seen several reports of low deer numbers being blamed on the state and the way that the seaon runs. NEWSFLASH!!!! The state makes the rules, but they don't hunt your land. If you don't agree with the rules, but continue to hunt with every legal weapon and tag out every year, that is a personal problem. If you have a set of inter club rules and are more strict than the state allows and are still not seeing deer, then its still not the rules by the state.

A comment titled: Just go get one in response to a report titled: Conceal Carry No Permit Now ???

I hope that they continue to go with the permits. There is a lot of information concerning situations, safety, laws, and legal/non-legal carrying spots with the class. Just because a person does not have a record does not make them competent enough to parade around in public with a loaded weapon. I have a permit, and have for years. Just to clarify other is NOT hard to obtain a permit and there is no red tape surrounding it. It is, however, a timely process. You 1) take the class and the test. 2) Shoot on a range. 3) Get your paperwork noterized. 4) Send packet along with a passport photo and finger prints to the State Police. It used to come in 2 and 4 year permits, but now it is a flat $125 for 5 years. Recieving permits in the mail is a turn around of 120 days or less. clarify CAN carry in public without the permit. It just cannot be concealed. Louisiana is an open carry state. You can strap on any sidearm that you would like, tuck your shirt in, and hit the town. So, for people that have an issue with the money or ther permit....that is not keeping you from carrying a gun...only concealing it

A comment titled: Bears in response to a report titled: HUNGRY BIG BEAR

Is anyone else getting bears on their cameras in Southeast LA? I think that Black Bears are doing great and it would bring alot of money along with different hunting opportunities if the LDWF did some studies on numbers and opened an experimental/lottery season. They are everywhere!

A comment titled: Crawfish bait in response to a report titled: Crawfish Bait

If you are getting NO results, then it may be more of a location rather than a bait issue. Are you using any dry bait along with the melt? Some bait will work better than others, but with no results at all, it seems as though your area may be void of crawfish. You can try some fresh shad or mullet before you move though
