Today marks the 8th anniversary. I just wanted to say "God Bless America!"

To all that lost their lives in this horrific terrorist attack, you will not be forgotten!

A comment titled: mower in response to a report titled: Zero turn lawn mower

I have a landscape/lawn service business that services the Baton Rouge - Lake Charles area. We have all zero turn mowers on hand (Exmark) and as long as you keep up regular maintenance, they will last a very long time. I have been in business for 19 years and have had Exmark for the past 5 years. We currently run 10 exmark mowers and have been for some time and never had a problem.

Who did your mount? Super nice job on the mount. Most spec mounts i see look too fake; this one is one of the better one's i have seen. No, i am not trying to advertise for anyone, i just want to know who did the mount.

A comment titled: Way Myrtle in response to a report titled: Question on blind material!

We hunt in a marsh south of Bell City and use way myrtle bush. We brush the blinds 2 weeks before opening split and by second split, you need to add green to the brush. They will turn brown but still add cover to the blind and brown over time so it works great.

Shrimp should be pretty easy to get at Cal Point or Spicers. Went fishing this weekend (braved the weather) and stayed on the north end of the lake.... only clean water i could find. With all of this rain, i would fish the cuts coming out of the marshes because the water will be coming out of the marshes and with that will be shrimp. You might stay in or arond the channel and fish around the marshes there; usually works well after rains. Will be on the water Wednesday so i will let you know how we do and what the water is like.

A comment titled: Yep in response to a report titled: whats this plant called

Indigo is the slang word for sesbania. We (our farm and LSU AgCenter) have done extensive research on sesbania and te picture does not have to be clear or big to know that is sesbania. What probably happend is when water was put on the field, the sesbania shot up. The stalk from the sesbania forms a "corky" substance under the water whick allows it to live in water.

This is 100% sesbania. We have it in our rice fields at times and bean fields. If you have water in your pond and just knock it down, it will come back up (know this from experience). If the stalks are dropping seeds and if you plan to hunt this next year, you will have it again and again. Maybe if you knock it down with your 4wheeler and run over it once a week, it might work but next year, i would plow all around your pond, spray it and catch it on fire to try and prevent it from coming back.

A comment titled: Recipe in response to a report titled: Turtle Recipes

I ate turtle this weekend and it was awesome. What we do is soak the turtle in milk for 30 minutes - hour (in the refrigerator). After that, take the turtle out and season with Tony's. Have a cast iron pot on med/high heat with a little oil and begin to brown. Brown really good and once it is really brown and sticking to the bottom, throw in onions and a lot of them. Add about 1/4 cup of water and scratch the bottom of the pot to get all the browning that is stuck off the bottom of the pot (do this while turtle is still in the pot). this will make a really shallow, dark gravy. After that, add a can of golden mushroom, i can of rotel in the pot as well as well as sausage (i forgot to mention that this needs to be browned as well) and mix well. Let cook on a low/med heat until it is mixed well (approx 10 minutes) and then add water to continue the gravy. Continue to cook on a med/low - med heat (not boiling) until turtle is tender. If you have turtle eggs, throw them in the last 15 minutes before you kill the fire. This will be a great recipe and works great for soft shell, yellow bellies and alligator/black turtles.

A comment titled: SW LA in response to a report titled: Alligator Gar Fishing

I would recommend launching around the Gibbstown bridge and cruising along it finding marshes along the intercoastal. We hunted gar there last year and there are some great places along the intercoastal. I think your best bet would be to head towards east along the intercoastal. I would even launch at the grand chenier park and head upstream; we hunted some big gar up that way. We launched at the grand chenier park one evening and hunted at night and landed 12 gar with the smallest being 3 1/2 ft.

A comment titled: Lake Area in response to a report titled: Lake Area Marine in Lake Charles

Purchased by boat from there as well. Great, friendly people to deal with. I shopped around just SWLA and went to Jerry's Marine and then to Lake Area Marine; by far the best service at Lake Area. When i went to Jerry's, it was like i was an inconvenience to them and they were not friendly at all. i was looking at a high end boat there and still didnt get the service that you would expect.

Lake Area is by far the best solution. I am sure that they would do a sea trial beings that Prien Lake isn't far.

A comment titled: Isn't bad in response to a report titled: SAUDI ARABIA

I worked there for a while, i worked out of Al Khobar which is right next to Dammam in the Eastern Province. Occasionally i would have to go to our offices in Al Khafji, Jubail and in Sharjah (UAE). I didn't know what to expect but it was very interesting. I stayed in a compound in Al Khobar and it wasnt bad. Many american's there and it is amazing how many people there have ties or is from Louisiana (guess we helped pioneer the oil industry). I also had to work in the Persian Gulf on an offshore construction vessel and stayed on there quite a bit (that was not fun). At least in the compound you can get out and go to some places; it really opens your eyes to a different culture. Good luck
