We planted some food plots (clover) this spring near Shreveport. The clover is coming up pretty good, but the weeds are almost overtaking the plots.

We found a herbicide that is safe for clover and will only kill the weeds. The question I have is, When is the best time to spray the weeds? Should I spray now, or wait until fall?

Anybody know a good place to buy box stands or tripod stands in the Baton Rouge/Ascension area. Academy and Cabela's don't have much. Any input would be appreciated.

The number to the guy near False River is 225-718-1458.

Rice Bran comes in 50lbs sacks and is $7.50
Corn comes in 2000lbs super sacks and is $165
Soybeans in a 2000lbs super sacks are $560

These were the prices they gave me on the phone about a month ago.

Try adding trailer hooks. Use the smallest ones you can find.

A comment titled: Fishing Teams in response to a report titled: College Fishing Teams

They are club teams, meaning they are not part of the athletic department and receive minimum-to-zero funding from the university and offer no scholarships. The teams have to obtain sponsors and raise funds.

You need to find the university sponsor of the team or the captain and ask him about tryouts. All the teams tryouts will be different.

I'm pretty sure LSU, Southeastern, LA Tech, UL-Monroe, and ULL all have teams too.

A comment titled: Too high... in response to a report titled: Old river fishable?

The water is still too high at Old River IMO. Like others have said, I'd wait until it hits 26ft (BR Stage) and falling. I actually like it around 23-21 so I can fish the piers. I doubt you could even launch right now.

The river is supposed to start dropping on Saturday. I'd wait a week or two.

Nice pics. Its a shame that Spanish Lake looks like that now. I've duck hunted out there and fished the bayous around it. I also know plenty of people that hunt around it.

A comment titled: Lake in response to a report titled: fishing near BR

The lake next to Reddman Lake I believe is in Mallard Lakes Subdivision. Its the really big one off of Hoo Shoo Too. It is a very exclusive, fancy neighborhood and they are very strict. It is not open to the public. My cousins used to fish it before the area was developed and have caught many bass and killed many ducks out of it.

A comment titled: Bayou Manchac in response to a report titled: Bayou manchac

I think they are talking about Bayou Manchac. It starts at Alligator Bayou in Prairieville (by Spanish Lake), crosses under Perkins Road right by Santa Maria, crosses under Airline by the State Fairgrounds, and runs into the Amite.

I don't know how bad the fish kill was there but on the other side of the lake it was pretty bad. I'd imagine it was pretty bad there too.

A comment titled: There is a difference... in response to a report titled: looking for advice

It won't be huge but the biggest difference is going to be in the glass that they use for the lenses. All lenses have imperfections that block out light and make the image less clear. Usually, the more you spend, the better the glass. At a store you won't be able to tell the difference in the amount of light, but when the sun is going down you may get an extra minute or two of shooting time.

Really nice fish. I have a camp out there and usually tear up the Sac-a-lait but never do any good on the bass. Do you usually catch them under piers or in the cypress flats?
