What's the best 23hp surface drive for the money that will preform well in stumps. My long tail just isn't cutting it, I need a little more speed but don't wanna break the bank.

I'm looking to upgrade from the pump to a semi auto shotgun. Don't want a really expensive one, in college and on a budget. But I looked at these two guns and read good reviews on both. Anybody shoot these guns? If so please tell me how you like them or if they are worth it. Will use mostly for ducks, dove, and clays. Also would consider a used gun

Tired of public land looking for a blind lease or any kind of duck lease. Dads getting older so a pit blind or anything easy to acess works. text 985 634 5417 with any information . Own a godevil boat so can access most places.

Bought a new boat from Mike Kliebert. Had a blind on the old boat but I wasn't a big fan of the grass matts from academy. Replacing them every year got old. Any suggestions on something better for the new blind?? Just want it to blend well and not fall apart, thanks.

Looking for a duck lease near Hammond la tired of hunting public land. It will only be me and my father. We have a godevil boat or we can paddle or walk it doesn't matter. We are very respectful to the land and owners. Anything within 45 to and hour away. 985-634-5417

I bought a brand new godevil 3 days ago. Ran perfect out of water like a dream. When I took it out for the first hunt it would run for about 60 seconds then die every time. It seemed to only die when I put it in the water. Any suggestions?

I have a 14 ft Jon boat with a 16hp go devil. We mainly use it for duck hunting but I really wanna go try and catch a few specs and reds In it. I know I won't be able to run very far or fast but I was just wondering what marina or lauch I should go to to have some decent close fishing. Not looking for any secret spot just want to know the marina I should try where I won't have to run across any water too big in that small boat!

I killed a nice deer this weekend and want to get it skull mounted. I was wondering who is the best for the job not too far from Hammond. Looking for a decent return time and good work. Any help or info is appreciated.

Caught this big boy in a thicket chasing does weighed 185 and 15 1/2 inside spread! Aged him at 4 1/2 the rut is heating up and big boys are chasing!

December 15, 2012 at 1:11pm

I don't know if I'm wrong or right but it seems like I've noticed deer chasing earlier than usual. I hunt in Clinton and have seen 5 bucks running does hard not just checking them. Also had 2 decent deer fighting not sparring. Usually the rut starts around Christmas in my area is anybody else noticing it early or am I just seeing things?

I was wondering if I could use a trolling motor on the laa part of the prairie. Not just is it legal but is it even possible or too shallow? Would I be better off just using a push pole. And I'm talking about on a 14 ft flat

Vanguard is a good motor in my experience but the best advice I could give you is to get a surface drive. I went the long tail route and regret it.

A comment titled: good question in response to a report titled: color of horns

I'm not sure it has much to do with age. I have several very small 4 points I see often with very dark horns. When I was younger I killed a very young buck with chocolate horns as well. and Old deer on camera with heavy almost white horns. I thinks its more genetics. Or a combination of everything. Whatever it is good question.

A comment titled: Cows in response to a report titled: Deer and Cows in Same Field???

I hunt a cow farm and they share fields fine. Once the cows graze the gras down it starts to grow back short and tender the deer seem to like it better. They usually keep a decent distance from each other though, but I have seen them feed side by side.

A comment titled: Thanks! in response to a report titled: Go devil help

Appreciate all the help! Problem turned out to be a small leak in the fuel line I didn't catch. The clamps that came on the fuel line were cheap. Replaced them fixed the leak and it runs great. Ran it for around 5 miles today. Hit a large submerged stump and almost broke a rib, thank god for the kill switch

Can't go wrong with a falcon rod. Falcon low rider is one of the best I've fished with. . But all star rods are good but I broke one in half when a bull red decide he was going straight under the boat

All I hear is stories from my dad and grandpa and what it used to be like. Stories of seeing so many ducks it was like a tornado. Wish is was still like that today I'd do anything to see it like it was.

A comment titled: East feliciana in response to a report titled: Nice buck!

In Clinton, I saw deer chasing at 12 while I was putting up cameras. I wouldn't say it's peaking but next week it will be. My friends hunting with me have seen the same the rut has defiantly started

December 15, 2012 at 5:07pm
A comment titled: Not sure in response to a report titled: What you think!

I agree but at the same time it shouldnt be changed state wide. For some areas your idea would defiantly help out because I have hunted places with almost no deer that used to be full of them. On the other hand I hunt places that have way too many does as well. You want buck to do ratio at 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 if you really wanna kill some big deer and have a strong rut. I know of a bunch of spots you could go and see 20 deer every afternoon but you could sit there 5 years in a row and be lucky to see anything better than a scrub buck

A comment titled: Thanks in response to a report titled: Early rut?

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I get off school at the end of next week and hunt every day for around two weeks but the rut I guess will be ending around then

Yeah the water on the prairie was stupid low too, my canoe was even dragging through the mud and barely moveing in some spots. And we got there 45 minutes before everyone else and set up and somebody still set up less than 80 yards away when there were plenty of other open blinds they could have got in
