Cooked lemon fish on grill for second time and it tased fishy. I can't believe this is right since I hear so much raving over this fish. The fish I cooked was a 46 pounder. I know she was fat and full of eggs. I cooked it on a gas grill with a little lemon pepper seasoning only. Shoud this fish be bled or something? Maybe marinated? Any help please since I've got quite a few steaks cut and wrapped in freezer.

Got an early start today, got to the landing before sunrise only to find earlier birds. Five boats on trailers getting ready to launch pulled up on side of them not to block the road. Proceaded to get ourselves ready only takes about 3 minutes including getting tickey to park. Buddy pulls truck up only to be cut off by someone more important! No problem here for first time in 2 months. More important proceeds to get ready while taking up most of right side we slip in and launch no problem. Pick buddy up and idle past bridge and let more important blast by. OK make our way to Marsh Island get some live bait, small conversation with other fisherman wish good luck and on our way to Tee Butte. First boat there and second cast big speck. Then another and here comes the calvary. First platoon crashes our party no problem, idle in a ways and shut down use trolling motor and anchor good distance form other boats. Start catching again along with others. Second platoon motors in between us and another boat shuts down our fishig. OK enough lets go in towards pass and check it out. Get there and 15 or so boats fishing as expected. Check wind and idle in not to disturb anyone drift and anchor. Start catching sand trout, cool might make a decent box after all. Well here comes the last of recruits and one motors up between us and another boat so I say hey (!##**le) the ice chest is right here only to get dumb founded looks. Caught 6 nice specks, one spanih mack and about 10 nice sand trout many through backs and laughed at the idiots. One snow ball, clean boat, fresh pan fried trout, fresh vegetables, crown and coke and life couldn't be better in Sportsmns Paradise!

Can anyone tell me which tide charts for the Louisiana Marsh would be most accurate? Planning a trip for the weekend from Lafayette, any help would be apreciated.

Launched out of Rigolets Marina about 8:30 after a very nice visit with young lady at the counter. Fished south end of lake at mouth of No Name Bayou. Kept 38 specks and threw back about 20 between 12 and 14 inches. All caught right on ledge on plastics, chartreuse deadly dudly and 3/8 jig head. Left about 11:30 when the knats got to be too much.
This is our second trip fishing this area and I want to say the buisiness owners and the fisherman alike are the friendlist I've ever been around. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving we sure did.

Making a trip to Slidell Friday afternoon thinking about bringing the boat. Never fished area before thinking about launching at The Dock or Rigolets Marina. How far and difficult to fish for the first time? Reds or trout don't matter, fishing in a 22ft pathfinder. Thanks in advance.

Brought two lady friends on their first boating trip and what a blast we had.Finished with 77 specks,2 white trout,1 nice red,1 giant drum,3 flounder and 4 dozen crabs. All trout caught in weeks bay on a little flat with no birds and no boats. Amazing! Rest caught in Oyster bay. Nice to introduce new fisherman to the sport without all the negatives.
Sometimes the road less traveled is the best road.
Good luck and slow down in the fog.

I've been fishing Vermillion Bay for a couple of years now and was wondering if any body new where do the specks go at this time of year? Maybe out of the bay to the close in platforms beacause of salinity? I've fished a lot of canals in Marsh Island and have never caught any specks to seak of only catfish and reds.

A comment titled: 4-k's in response to a report titled: 100% Gas in Laf/N.I. area?

4-k's on Westgate road between Dulles and Cameron in Scott has 100% gas. We buy it there for our shop and my boat. We check it each time with a tester. And they do not have the contains ethonal sticker. Their fuel comes from St. Martin Oil and Gas. We found out from an employee of theirs. Hope this helps.

A comment titled: knew better in response to a report titled: Typical Sunday At Vermillion Bay

Ya'll right I knew better. Fished keys before and never had a problem. Most of the time I find shallow cuts going into ponds, weeds most of them out. Just thought we'd catch a few trout.

A comment titled: keep it simple in response to a report titled: Taking Son and New Sons Fishing HELP

Keep an eye on the reports here. Watch the weather and I suggest Rigolets area. Close trip (no long distance to travel if turns out bad) people at Rigolets Marina will tell you in advance if catching in the area. Lake Bourgne,Catherine,Pontch. all close many options for getting out of wind if need be.

A comment titled: great boat in response to a report titled: Pathfinder 2200XL Boats

I own a 2200V 2000 model with a 150VMax. It is a great boat that truly has an elven inch draft. I fish the bay area a lot and its not the best boat in 3 plus seas but for ponds and the like it can't be beat. Make sure you get trim tabs and a jack plate if possible. I suggest you ride or fish in one for a day to get a real feel for the boat. Be glad to tie up for a trip if you need. Just give me an e-mail. Good luck fishing.

A comment titled: muddy and low in response to a report titled: water report

got to the landing at the point about 10m lowest ever seen. water in the bay itself muddy. got to bird island and mudflats everywhere. scared redfish in all the canals but couldn't by a bite. made it tho the first weir and soaked chicken for about one hour and not even one crab. back to the landing about 3pm and water in bay actually cleared up a good bit. early morning trip tomorrow might be good you'll catch the falling tide. hope this helps.

A comment titled: live bait locations in response to a report titled: bait & Shrimp

There are several weirs inside of marsh island. There is also on near redfish point by game warden camp. Live bait can also be caught sometimes in canals from landing.Depends on where you're heading. We sometimes catch bait where we are fishing, if fishing the reefs on outside with tide moving we've caught plenty of pogies and finger mullet while fishing. I think the sound of the cast net sometimes gets the fish excited.
