The water alarm went off twice while running my 200hpdi yesterday. I had to stop, remove the cowling and empty the fuel filter - didn't drain the Racor yet. Seems that I just changed the Racor filter element and the main filter element - but I guess it needs replacing again.

We got 3 dozen live shrimp and launched at the Rigolets Marina at 07:30. Our plan was to fish the Biloxi Marsh with plastics but the shrimp was insurance. The 25 minute run across Lake Borgne was smooth with just enough chop to put some air under the hull. My boat cruised at 30 mph doing a steady 3900 rpm. The trout and flounder ignored all our plastics but ate all 3 dozen shrimp by 12:30. .... Read More
It was a perfect day, almost. Ran accross L. Borgne from the Rigolets to the Biloxi marsh and fished the points with moving water on the falling tide. Little trout and rat reds were plentiful, slamming DOA shrimp under a rattle cork. We kept 18 good size trout, a flounder, a sheepshead and several channel mullet caught on live shrimp.

Thursday was a beautiful day on Lake P. It was me, Randy & Dr. Don on my Bayscout. We fished Geohagen, the twin spans and the trestle. I caught 3 nice reds, 2 trout and a flounder. Fished yesterday between Hwy 11 and the trestle. I was surprised to catch a nice blue cat there and wonder why the water in Lake P supports these freshwater fish? We haven't had an abundance of rain recently and the water should be too salty for freshwater catfish. Is this normal?

Helen had cabin fever and needed some fishing, so I got some shrimp at the fish market here and we fished the bottom at the mouth of the canal, water temp 60 degrees. There were a lot of boats sitting at anchor and we found a spot near the rocks which gave us some room to cast without fouling lines with the other boats. Fished yesterday with Brian (lunkerbaldwin) from noon to 4 and we got into the redfish immediately and had 10 keepers by 1:30 and culled a few after that. We lost count but probably caught and released 20 more. Water temp up the Geoghegan Canal was 44.5 degrees. The trout were there on the fishfinder but not biting, probably in shock from the cold. Is there a prop shop near Slidell? I emailed one in Covington and their prices are crazy. All I need is a general going over and some cup in the blade tips, no polishing. The prop is not hurt. It's a 15-1/4" X 18 Powertech 3-blade OFX.

Rich fished with me and we decided to try Geoghegans again since the wind chill was brutal and wanted to stay close to the marina ramp. We saw Randy and his dog in his kayak (crazy mofo) and he tied off to my boat and joined us. Randy's dog is well-behaved and was no problem, gave us a few laughs when we landed fish.

Wife and I fished a short time in Geohagens Canal and kept 5 nice redfish. I caught one and she caught the other 4. Only one short red throwback (her's) and a couple pulled off the hook. We only fished a couple hours because her feet got too cold. We'll be shopping for some warm socks and footwear for her.

I don't know about you, but I figured out a long time ago....
Fished Monday up the geoghegan canal. It was like a parking lot, but the fish were there. Kept 17 trout, 4 reds and a flounder. All caught on white glow doa cal on 3/8 jighead and purple beetle on 1/4 jighead. They wanted it on the bottom, pop it and they hit on the fall.

I'm retired and fish often but fishing alone is difficult, launching the boat and such, because of my back problems. Another retired gent fishes with me sometimes but not often enough - he has an 18' Scully and I have a 24' Bayscout - we alternate boats, depending on conditions and where we plan to fish.

Wife and I parked the boat on anchor in Sawmill Pass and enjoyed catching a variety of species on live shrimp. Steady action produced a lot of small trout, channel mullet, sheepshead, drum and Helen caught 6 sting rays. I cleaned a dozen trout, two sheepshead and three channel mullet. Big surprise of the day was this monster drum. We remembered the camera, so here's a picture of the beast.

That's a beast and I guarantee that someone's arm was....
Rich and I fished his boat from 10:00 to 3:00, put in at the fort. First stop at the L&N produced a couple trout on plastic, nothing on shrimp, but the current was ripping out too fast. We tried to pull anchor but it was stuck for good and had to cut off an expensive Fortress anchor and chain.

Rich and I left the fort ramp around 10am and immediately saw several flocks of birds diving in L. Catherine. We picked up a few small keeper trout on plastics under the birds then ran over to Unknown Pass. We fished the trestle for a short while and got another trout and a 19" drum on shrimp which I gave to a nearby fisherman. Then we ran over to fish in a bayou that leads to Goose.... Read More

I can attest to the "terrific" fishi....
I met two other retired gents and we fished my boat for the two afternoons. Rich is retired state trooper and John is retired Army helicopter pilot (Vietnam and other more recent wars.) Rich has a nice home on the bayou near the Rigolets and caught bait off his dock, pogeys and shrimp. John and I are both disabled Army vets so we had a lot to talk about. Glad to see that the weather gave you an opportunity to....
It was an awesome and first-class event! The weather was brutal but there was an amazing turnout and a lot of fish caught, weighed in and many were tagged and released. Unfortunately, continuing spine problems prevented me from fishing the tourney, but I donated and got a stamp to have lunch during the weigh-in. I saw some friends and enjoyed the talk and seeing all the impressive boats pull.... Read More
