Looking into getting a new trolling motor. Did a search of reports and everything I found was 3 to 5 yrs old. Hoping to get some updated opinions on Minnkota vs Motorguide. Looking at 24 volt, 55 to 70# for a 20 ft, fiberglass bass boat. Any advice?

Be aware. I just received a ticket in the mail from Geauxpass for two violations in August and September. I've had a tag on my windshield since the tollbridge opened. When I called, the woman explained that my card had expired and since I did not call them and give them the new expiration date, I was in violation. Haven't fished the Bayou Corne area in over a year. Had planned on going once I got my boat out of the shop until the gas bubbling up in the bayou started. Now there's the sinkhole and evacuations of the locals. I feel bad for them. I've met some mighty nice folks there. I assume the bubbling gas and the sinkhole are related. Anybody know any more than what little the local news is reporting?

Hit the bay behind Grand Isle Wednesday around noon. First stop was the only stop. Started catching 12 to 15 inch specks with some in the 18 inch range. Very few throw backs. I've heard comments about not using oil with teflon on reels. Not sure why. If so should I avoid using it on my guns as well? Anyone know?
