Redfish was on the agenda today and although the storms made every attempt to keep us from catching, we still put together a good box of redfish. Jackson and Alec had the hot sticks today leaving Mike and I in the dust when it came to putting fish in the boat. Good times and lots of rain was the motto for today. Big thanks to Capt. Marty and Capt. Lonnie for hooking up the trip.

The noise a trout makes when she comes up to the bait and sucks in as hard as she can, trying to inhale the bait for her next meal, is only part of my addiction. The second part is when coupled with that noise and an explosion on the water's surface immediately sends my adrenaline into overdrive and I just can't seem to get enough of it! We had plenty of that action yesterday. There were.... Read More

What a day it was, beautiful weather and great people onboard today. 'Doc' and his guest, Dr. Larry and son, Daniel, experienced a trip they will never forget. I have to give props to Dr. Larry as he broke his big trout record today on the good ole Matrix Shad. His new record is now standing at 4.2 lbs, great job Dr. Larry. Today was a day for the big girls. We had beautiful trout coming.... Read More

Today I had Nalco and their guest on board. Today started off steady and then midway went dead, but finished strong and left them biting. It was a great day to be on the water as it was slick calm and we were running 38 mph across open water to the first spot. The first two spots were steady as we put 45 on ice before 930 and then it went dead. We ran from spot to spot searching for more.... Read More

Nalco joined me on Friday and with the weather looking bad to the west, we only had a limited amount of time before the rain was going to hit (at least that's what the weather looked liked it would do). We decided to head straight to the ponds and work the banks for reds. We pulled up to the first spot and within 5 minutes a hook up with a nice red and about 10 seconds later, he spit it. Good.... Read More

Daryl and Michelle joined me on Saturday and the day started a little slow. With the winds, I decided that fishing with dead shrimp and cracked crab, on the bottom, was the way to go. Our first spot was taken so off to the second, nothing. Passed back by the initial intended spot and noticed the boat was catching, good for them but bad timing for me. For the next 5 spots we picked up a red,.... Read More

An old buddy of mine wanted to learn some new area and after rescheduling once, I called him last minute due to a new opening. He was game for whatever and so I decided to take full advantage and make it a topwater trip. We checked a couple places to make sure the trout weren't stacked and then headed to where the action began. We were getting strikes almost every cast and it was amazing to.... Read More

It was a great day to be on the water. The wind forecast was wrong again as it was blowing a lot harder than 5-10. Anyway I had Travis, Nate, and Dave with me onboard and the plan was for trout and the plan became a success. We ran to the coast and the wind was already blowing near 15 from the west and the water didn't look good at all. I said hell with it and we gave it a whirl and found.... Read More

  • Craig's redfish caught on topwater.
I was running the second boat for a charter from Capt Bill Lake and I had the pleasure of taking out Craig, Doug, and Dave. We started out looking for trout and we picked away for a few here and there but nothing to brag about. The next plan was to go after the bullreds again, but with little to no tide, everything was shut down. We jumped around from spot to spot, but no luck. So I decided.... Read More

Yesterday I had Don, Tim, and Sean on my boat and it was a beautiful day to be on the water. The winds stayed down, which made for perfect conditions. The shrimp were everywhere in Lake Mechant and we just bounced from one flock of birds to another. A lot of smaller trout were mixed into the catch but it was a great site to finally see some shrimp action. Tim, who is from Michigan, caught a.... Read More

Capt. Chris Venable, Capt. Olden Rodrigue, and myself decided to take a day to scout some new area. The wind was stronger than predicted, again, so we decided to stay on the inside and boy was that a great idea. We started off the morning with throwing topwater baits for speckled trout. It was a blast to see the trout blowing up on the baits. We ended up landing a few, but they sure were.... Read More

  • Chip's first keeper trout while Mr. John is reeling in another.
Tough conditions made for a tough day of fishing. Calm winds, beautiful skies, and hungry fish made for a great start of the day. I only wish it could have lasted a little longer. The speckled trout are very scattered right now. They have transitioned out of there winter spots and into the lakes. We started off on a reef and Mr. John's first cast was a small speckled trout. For the next hour.... Read More

I had the pleasure of taking out Martel, Tank, and Caesar yesterday, who are customers of Gordon's Machine. Mr. Gordy told me he wanted to put these guys on fish and I knew just what to do. We headed straight for the rigs and with clear water we could see the sheepshead swarming the legs of the rig. We were using a 1/4oz jighead, tipped with shrimp, and pitching to them or sometimes we would.... Read More

This was the second annual fishing trip with the Oklahoma boys and man did we smash the reds. A few fished with crab and others hit the ponds and boy did it pay off! 152 redfish were brought back to the dock over the weekend, not to mention the ones we caught and released. Once great times and I can wait to head their way to shoot that monster buck!

I spent the last three days fishing with great people. I want to thank Capt. Bill Lake for hooking me up with the trips. Thursday and Friday were off days for me. Between the cold snap and not being able to get on the fish, we ended up with 31 trout for Thursday and 15 trout for Friday with a handful of reds mixed in. It is days like Friday that make me question my fishing abilities as a.... Read More

I had the pleasure of taking out John Pittman and his crew and the day started off slow and wet. We first tried to find some trout but the rain made the water dirty and after searching for a couple hours, with little luck, we decided to go after redfish. After fishing the first spot for a few minutes, we heard a crack of thunder and that was all it took to chase us back to the 'Lakehouse'. .... Read More

My buddy Zach and his dad, Warren, accompanied me on Friday for a 'Battle of the Bulls' and that's what we got. From the first cast to the last, we caught plenty of reds and drum. We were using cracked crab in about 12-15 feet of water and the fish were hungry. We ended the day with 12 bull reds and 18 bull drum and some sore arms!

Give me a call to get on some of this big fish action.

We left a little later on day 2 because of the water temperature the day prior. We decided to hit the spot that we left them biting the day before, but what do you know, the word got out. There were two boats in the spot and another was ahead of me. No problem, we went around to the back side and boy did we hit the jackpot! Reds coming in every cast but almost all of them were undersize. .... Read More

I had the pleasure of taking Walter Litton, his wife Kim, and also Brad and his wife Stacy on a charter with some non stop redfish action. Day 1 was a morning trip, as I was booked for Saturday afternoon, and it was great! It started off slow because the water temperature had all the fish lethargic. As the sun rose higher, the fishing heated up and about 10 a.m. it was on! All 4 of my guest.... Read More
