I spent the last three days fishing with great people. I want to thank Capt. Bill Lake for hooking me up with the trips. Thursday and Friday were off days for me. I had the pleasure of taking out John Pittman and his crew and the day started off slow and wet. We first tried to find some trout but the rain made the water dirty and after searching for a couple hours, with little luck, we decided to go after redfish. My buddy Zach and his dad, Warren, accompanied me on Friday for a 'Battle of the Bulls' and that's what we got. From the first cast to the last, we caught plenty of reds and drum. We were using cracked crab in about 12-15 feet of water and the fish were hungry. We ended the day with 12 bull reds and 18 bull drum and some sore arms!

WOW, that's an impressive box there Capt! Looks like....
We left a little later on day 2 because of the water temperature the day prior. We decided to hit the spot that we left them biting the day before, but what do you know, the word got out. Day 1 was a morning trip, as I was booked for Saturday afternoon, and it was great! It started off slow because the water temperature had all the fish lethargic. 12-6-2012, I had the pleasure of taking out Jimmy Yancy and his guests, Carol and Lenny. The day started off foggy and a bit slow, as we were catching a lot of smaller fish. After making a few moves, we hit the jackpot. Birds were working everywhere and the trout were coming out the water while chasing the shrimp. It was a great day of catching today. Hundreds of fish were caught, but we boxed 82 specks and 2 reds. If these guys were not being sarcastic then they were not speaking! There were lots of laughs today and even more fish caught! The reds were exploding on the banks again, but our main focus were the trout. I had the pleasure of taking out Jimmy Boudreaux and his friends and we had a good day. 67 speckled trout, 1 white trout, 1 drum, and 8 reds were put in the box today. The reds were everywhere! We caught 50+ reds in the 13-15 inch range; glad to see the population is doing so well. Today the fish wanted the big eye under a cork and the two colors of choice were the blue and avocado with red.... Read More

I decided to do a little fun trip and after fighting the fog, I was fishing for about 7am. It didn't take long to put 25 mixed trout in the box. They ranged from 12-17 inches, with a lot of throwbacks. The key was sticking with it and weeding through the smaller ones. I fished with both a cork and double rigs and they both seemed to produce about the same. I caught my last fish at 8:10am.... Read More

Bruce and Joe accompanied me this past weekend to do a little fishing and we had a great time! Speckled Trout are everywhere and are really starting to show their winter patterns. Big thanks to Capt. The fishing has been great! Just like Capt. Bill Lake said, the bigger trout are moving in. I had 3 different groups this weekend and we all had a blast catching trout and reds. Lake Mechant and Sister Lake have been my focus, but I have heard that Lake Decade is starting to heat up as well! I have been using a popping cork with a cajun pepper or blue moon bayou chub underneath it.

I had the pleasure of taking out Ron and Paw from Texas. Paw is 81 years young and always wanted to experience what South Louisiana had to offer with the redfish in mind. Well he got what he came for, we boxed 10 slot reds, but caught plenty more. The problem we were having was the fish were big. Another great weekend of fishing down Dularge. We truly are blessed by the amount of fish we have. Keeper trout are starting to really move in, although we still have plenty of throwbacks. Redfish and drum are still slamming our cracked crab. The fishing will only get better throughout the year, so give us a call at Light Tackle Charters and come experience what Dularge has to offer.

September was truly one of the best months I have seen for redfish in a few years. With that being said, October is already making a name for itself. I had two different groups over a three day span and catching is what we did. I fished Friday and yesterday and it really doesn't get any better than this! Friday we finished our limit in about an hour and the two boats behind me did the same. Yesterday was a catch and release day and we ended up releasing over 30 reds and 15 black drum. The time for redfishing is now! So come join the fun!

Captain Brady and Myself decided to make a morning pleasure trip on Friday and I am sure glad we did. We didn't leave the house until 6:30 and had the majority of our fish by 9. We ended up with our limit of reds, 18 bass, and a great time! It was a well needed trip and I have to thank Capt. Brady for making it happen!

My dad and I decided to scout some new area and boy did it pay off, but not until our 2nd spot. Once we got into them it didn't take long for us to fill the box with nice trout! It is always nice to fish with the man that taught me how to fish!

I had some buddies from Oklahoma drive down to fish with Capt. Gerald Ellender and myself for the weekend. We ended up hammering the reds both days, with a total of 30 reds (our limit) for the two days. The first day we worked the ponds and the second we decided to soak some crab. It was great fishing and great company. I am looking forward to driving up there to try out noodling!
