Does anyone know anywhere that has hog traps in stock. I found 2 at Tractor Supply but were pretty sorry in construction. I live in Slidell so anywhere within an hours drive is good. I can't believe they are this hard to find. Hogs have invaded my backyard and I can't stay awake long enough to shoot them so I need a trap. Thanks.

What do you guys let left handed kids shooot for a shotgun. My middle boy is about to be 7 and he has shot a single shot .410 and single shot 22 magnum with no problems but would like to get him a youth 20 gauge. My oldest boy, who is 8 years old, killed his first two deer this weekend. He shot a 115# doe at 60 yards on Sat. evening and then shot a 65# button buck on Sun. morning at 54 yards. Anyone ever use the 1/2 size crab traps. I'm looking to get some to set in the bayou by my house, mainly for the kids, and I will be tying them to something instead of floats to keep them from getting stolen. They sure would be a lot easier to store and travel with but if they don't catch crabs well I don't need them. Thanks, Wayne.

I thought some people might be interested to know that the old bait shop on Front Street in Slidell has live shrimp. I was in there yesterday buying crickets for the kids to fish with(wearing the big bluegill out) and saw them. I don't know what they are getting for them but they had plenty in the big tank. I'm a pogey man myself but to each his own.
Anybody got any first hand experience with a commercially made game cart? Looking for something with good quality, I don't mind spending the money if it's well made. I will mostly be using on a trail if that helps any. Thanks.

It all started 5 weeks ago when my 5 year old called my dad and said pawpaw we won the Lottery! The kids were so excited you would have thought we won a million dollars. Please be on the look out. Somebody stole my 2008 Yamaha 25hp, manual start, short shaft, 2 stroke outboard right off the back of my Tim's Flat in my yard. Same thing happened to me in 2003. Two more 25 HP motors....

Anybody have any recommendations for someone that builds an aluminum skiff. Interested in something 16x44 that I could push with a 25hp outboard. I see these boats all over the basin being used by commercial fisherman but never see them on the Pearl River by my house. Do they have any real advantage over a regular flatboat?Thanks in advance.

Hunted in Texas on SAT, SUN, and MON. I've just got caught up so posting now. The weather was terrible like some others have said, was like hunting in a dust storm. I got lucky and killed 2 birds in the first half hour on SAT and another on SAT evening. Saw in todays's paper that Roy "Tookie" McManus jr. passed away. This is the man that the benefit softball tournament and raffle were held for in Slidell back in May. His nephew David(Swampman1) did a great job putting it on and Capt. Eric Dumas helped also. My prayers go out to his family, they are good people.
On Thursday night the fishing community lost a wonderful person, Mrs. Claire Bourgeois. She use to run and own Jeanfreau's marina and restaurant on the Chef next to the old Halter Marine building. Anybody who fished the Chef back in the 50's,60's,70's, and 80's should know her. There were so many people out we could hardly find a spot to set up. The two spots we wanted to hunt were occupied so we just made do in a small patch of grass on the edge of a very large pond. I've never seen so many wood ducks and tree ducks in my life. We could actually see other hunters shooting at them( ignorant a**holes ). Only saw a few bands of teal. Somebody sent me an e-mail with photos and story of a 23foot 1 inch alligator in Lake Weiss in Alabama. The pics are cool if they are real. The gator is swimming with a full grown deer in his mouth. This might be old news but it is the first time I've seen them. I'll try to post the pictures, but I'm not very computer literate.

Bought my 07/08 hunting license today. It's three feet long and comes with 3 buck tags, 3 anterless tags, and 2 gobbler tags. Each tag must stay attached to your license to be valid, and is only removed to be placed on your kill once is recorded on your harvest card. Each tag also has your license number on it.
