Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
The weekend started with rain and ended with rain, and lots of it. First up was Eric Axley with his son and son-in-law. With solid rain and only an afternoon trip to get in we went to Falgout canal Marina to wait for a break. We got a small window and took to the water. With off color water I thought the dead shrimp would work the best so I armed them with this and I tossed a HLT Anchovy..... Read More

  • Luke came and conquered the mangroves. Too Cute.
  • Cobia Killers
  • The mangrove masters
Never too late to post this kind of action. This was July 4th.

Paul Snow along with his grandson Luke and friends came and just flat out caught the fish. From start to finish these boys were lit up catching mangrove after mangrove. In the middle of all this the cobia would show up and they would know just how to get them on the line. It looks like the croakers finally got big enough to use.... Read More

  • Kenny Smith and gang put 50 mangroves in the box along with 6 cobia
  • coming in
Friday it was Kenny Smith and gang from T Baker Smith & Sons. They wanted fish and that is just what they got. The mangroves cooperated along with the cobia. The live croakers have finally got large enough to be effective. It wasn't many at any particular spot but each spot produced a few and after a few spots the numbers began to increase. Along with the mangroves the cobia would show up.... Read More

  • Butch with a nice cobia
  • real nice Yellow tail snapper
  • Boyd Parkers board shot from the first day
This week Boyd Parker and gang came down from Texas and wanted to go home with lots of fish - well - they did. First day we went mangrove fishing and put the hurt on them catching their limit fairly easy. Live croakers are still too small to use so we continue to pound on the mangroves with cut pogie. Also during the mangrove fest the cobia would come by and I don't think these guys let one go.... Read More

  • Limit of 50 mangroves and a lone cobia.
Dr. Brian and his gang of rookies came and braved the weather for a shot at catching some mangroves. Well catch they did and it didn't take long. The weather has been so crazy this year we take advantage of any day we can, and with seas and wind forecast for calm but knowing that was not going to be accurate we tested the gulf anyway. When we got to the pass it was a lot better than we thought.... Read More

  • Nice trout for Tommy
  • Box Shot
  • Wes with a nice one
I had my good friend Wes Gore from Natchez fishing with me on a fun day and we killed the trout. One after the other came in the boat until we ran out of live shrimp. The trout were thick but would only eat a live shrimp or a dead one worked very hard. I tried all sorts of plastics and nothing would work even shrimp imitations. The best thing about these trout was the size, most were 18 to 19.... Read More

  • A wheel barrow full of mangroves and cobia. Not bad for a short day.
  • Look at the broken bolt in the spot in front of the stator.
The day started off bad right off the bat. First while checking the oil I dropped the oil cap overboard. So after making one out of pvc, ducktape and teflon tape it was time to start the engines. First one started, second, started third no start. So after about a half an hour checking things out and talking to Jessica and Will at Outcast Marine the problem was found. Time for a new flywheel and.... Read More

I’ve been busy with the very short red snapper season so I haven’t been able to do any posting. So here it is. The weather was not good for the first couple of days so we lost out on those but the next 6 days were super. All of the red snapper that my customers caught this year were caught over flat bottom in open water. The water depth was 110 feet and the fish were holding most days around 30.... Read More

  • A fine Britt with a nice snapper. Come get you some.
I have June 9th open right now so if there are some fishermen out there that want to get in on a red snapper trip get in touch with me. Singles, doubles or the whole group. It your chance to get on a trip without having the entire group. The snapper are big and the cobia are plentiful. Add in a few black fin and mangroves and we have a day. Capt. Wow what a horrible day to be fishing, but it was a great day to be on the water. All the storms stayed to the west and north and we just had to fight the wind. Even with a 10 foot power pole and an anchor it was hard to stay in spot. Capt. Chris Venable took out half of the group and was on fish most of the day. We were right beside him but couldn't get the right bite. We didn't have to throw.... Read More

  • Nice cobia for Ben

Here’s the scoop from this past weekend. Houma Oilman’s Tournament started off a busy summer. The weather cooperated and the fishing was fantastic. Becknel Rental started the week off on Thursday and it was fish on from the start. Cobia were everywhere and hungry so out went the HLT jigs in orange/yellow and avocado/glow colors and the cobia were coming in the boat. Also in the mix was a couple.... Read More

  • In the fight
It was Charles Pagett’s first trip of the year and he brought his son and friends to battle some big fish. The battle was on from the start and it seems like the fish were winning right from the first drop. Six lines down and six hook ups only to get one amberjack to the surface. That when the knot tying started. Five lines need new hooks. Again six lines down and again new hooks needed. In the.... Read More

Just when you thought it was safe to be in the water. These Cocodrie Piranha tried to eat my motors and my boat. The only thing I could think of was to give them a taste of a bare hook. For your chance at witnessing this give me a call, Capt. Tommy Pellegrin 985-851-3304.

  • Tim finally got on board the catching with this one.
  • Myron with a couple of fat ones.
I took Mr. Dickie Barker in his boat on Sunday to try and find some trout with the weather not perfect for fishing but perfect to be outside. I had found the schools of bull reds the day before so that was what was on target for first thing. All it took was one cast for Dickey, Myron, and Tim to get in a fight with a bull. We let them go and made the turn for some trout. It took a while to find.... Read More

  • Eddies big red.
the Pure Fishing sales and marketing team came to South Louisiana for a work week and as you well know you just have to fish some while here. It almost took turning off the Wifi to get them to fish but after they did the first day is wasn't too hard to get them on the boat. The Abu Garcia Orra 30's performed flawlessly catching numerous trout the first day. Berkley Grass Pigs in Smelt colors.... Read More

  • A nice jack for Jessica
  • Board shot with all of the larger fish
Finally got a chance to get offshore again and it was great. I would have got this post out earlier but I went on one of those unwanted crash diets. We went straight out to wonderland and with fog all the way out it was nerve racking to drive only being able to see a couple hundred yards. With the fog we could see any of the bait or birds on the surface so we put a couple of feathers out and.... Read More

  • Be careful unhooking these fanged creatures
  • The top-water bite has started
Got Fangs, we do, on all of the trout. Its time for some top water trout, and as you can see in the picture I'm not in the deep marsh. I decided to give the outside a try and found some trout wanting to jump on the red head walkers. Then it happen, the phone goes off on Rick and he gets called out. I wanted to try another spot out there behind the island a it was game on with the HLT Blue Tiger.... Read More

  • Capt. Eric's new jet doing it right. First pass and first hook up was on the test lure.
  • Next pass was a triple.
  • Can you guess what other bait the wahoo liked pulled right in the white water of the prop wash.
What a day! Clint and the rest of the Goose Guides Gang came and wanted to get in on the fantastic wahoo bite that is going on right now. We left Boudreaux's Marina in the dark and the first lines hit the water at 7:05. At 7:15 the first wahoo is screaming the drag on the Penn International. We were testing a new lure made by my son Capt Eric and it was the first one that took off,.... Read More
